While your design team may feel that the old icons looked dated and wanted to refresh the look of the game you've condemned us to using these terrible icons. The only way i personally navigate these icons is by having them in the same order on every client after a month of playing with them. Trolls be damned, these icons are terrible, icon packs should be optional for both old new or third party icons.
While it may not seem to be an important complaint or grievance consider that with many of the other changes a hardline on these icons could be the straw that breaks a camels back for resubbing or unsubbing. The new icons are ok in that they are a bit more informative than the old ones, but they are still harder to distinguish due to the lack of colors. Add some color and the new ones will be great.
Two months in, and it still takes me significantly longer to manage the side bar, when doing industry and marketing related things. And I still confuse things, and click the wrong button, on a regular basis.
I also notice, the combat icons are still in color, nice inconsistency here. Aren't you going to make them monochrome with very simple icons, to help us identify them better? That's what you said about the side bar, surely that applies to combat as well.
Please don't actually do that, that was sarcasm. You already ****** up one part of the interface, please don't break the rest. The point I'm making, reading the reasoning behind the monochrome icons, it SOUNDS like that would apply to everything. Can you imagine finding the correct icons in combat in a hurry, with oversimplified icons and no color?
I think by color, then shape, THEN detail.
The market and industry icons, and assets and inventory icons, are similar both in color, AND shape, due to this, I am now identifying things by a Tertiary thought process, instead of the primary.
I tried your way, for two months now, playing nearly every day, and nope, I'm still making mistakes, and it's still MUCH slower.
The combat interface still works perfectly, guess why? *cough*color*cough*
Return varied color to Gallente ships! not everything looks good in DARK GREEN!
