I think more like making it possible to interfere in the warp-path between gates/stations etc. So you can catch ships in the mids of their travel between gates, not at gates. ____ "Since when is justified killing more fun than random killing?" -HippoKing-

Why is running missions bad? They're kinda boring, but I don't know what else I can reasonably tackle.
The issue with missions are not the fact that they are npc-spawned or that you donŠt fight vs people. Mining, production, trading and even ratting are all based on a contest between players and should there be large amounts of players wanting to profit from the same resource conflicts will arise.
Missions on the other hand are sneak-insatances, you never need fear that someone else has depleted your agen because no matter how many come and ask he always has missions and rewards aplenty, this is the lack of pvp in missions, not that they do not engage willingly in pvp-combat (although there are certainly many who do both). -

How about this fix. Due to the extreme amounts of power and the time space disruptions caused by jumping intoand out of a system, Targeting and weapon systems do not work withen 300km of a gate. This should take care of folks that sit out 250 km and snipe, and take care of the ones that sit right on top of the gate.
It is an easy simple fix.

That kills territory control and the number 1 spot, where pvp is happening. Well, you are not supposed to travel riskless in 0.0 and if people want to close a system or pipe, they should be able to do so, until someone removes them. 0.0 is and will always be player controlled space.

Why not do what we have in Sci-Fi books?
Have jump capable missiles that can be programmed to go after certain ships. Launch a flood of jump missiles though the gate then follow them through.
Of course I am for mining(explosive type) gates 20 k out as well.
I think this would add to gate camps and also allow you to break them if a scout can tell you what ship types are on the other side of the jump.
Of course in Empire if it isn't a war target then sentrys can open up and Concord can have a party on your ship.

Maybe they should make higher rated NPC missions competitive contracts? I mean, if you're only capable of fielding standard Frigates, it wouldn't make sense to expose the player to the risk of having to compete with a well equipped, experienced player, but as the rewards for a mission went up, perhaps getting to, and finishing an instance that's known to 20 or 30 people might make some sense.
I can understand the desire to expose players to the competitive aspects of the game, but having a sheltered set of things to do with very low risk is important for attracting and educating new players and also providing experienced players with something to go back to if they suffer very, very large losses.
WRT instas. I've only got one route of instas bookmarked, and I have to say I like them because they enable MUCH faster travel. I haven't even seen any gate campers yet, but I'd be sad if instas went away. Travel is a big pain in the butt not necessarily because it's camped to heck, but because most of the routes are loooong.
From my point of view (uber n00b) if jumps were set up in sort of an interstate fashion, so you could say, go from one end of the galaxy to the other in 6 or so jumps, but then had to take shorter and shorter jumps to get to the exact place you wanted (like an Interstate system), then I wouldn't miss Instas one bit.
I'd also argue that something like that would make Gate Camping more interesting, because if you could control large jump points in low sec space, you could much more easily control the flow of traffic. -------------------------------------------------------- Working towards my own personal Dreadnought, one ISK at a time. |

Without so much gate camping, there wouldn't be so much instant BMs. What is the first advice people give to those who want to go to low sec and 0.0? Get the instant bms! That is right, gate camping is the root of this issue. I don't know why ccp think travel should be dangerous. Because this is the exact cause of low population in 0.0 and low sec. Travel should be safe but living should be hard. Combat should not happen near the jump gates. Instead, combat should be taking place around resource points. Gates should be a tool for everybody since nobody have to pay anything to use it.
It is very true that before nerfing the instant BMs, gate camping must be nerfed first. Pvp should be fun for all who involved regardless win or lose. However, the current pvp system and fights hardly reflect such ideal. Wonder who so few people like to even go into 0.0 and low sec? Before you asking why nobody come to a visit, you have to first stop shooting everybody who come near your doors! It is that simple really...
