Not sure if this is the place or not, but though I am a religious eve player, I also enjoy World of Warcraft.
To my fellow eve players, here is a few trial keys for WOW.
TTWZBX-G7DE-KC97GC-ND6H-PN2W76 9N62GJ-4ZYD-RNTGBF-Z29C-BZMVNM G9HRXR-R2BC-CPHKJF-YJGN-2WPJXV T7DK8B-9CZR-DMM7XM-F7TZ-48HNNB
Now, if you do leave Eve - Give me your stuff! :)

Do remember that to get anywhere in WoW you need to buy weapons and armour from other players. Also remember that on trial accounts you can't trade with other players.

No you don't. You can easily survive the first 40 levels on quest based items. If you are going to try and give the game a black eye, at least be honest about it.
WOW Cons: 1. got grind? 2. Skill and Talent system condone cookie cutter builds 3. Crafting is on original and not as rewarding as other MMOs 4. Poor balance in some classes and abilities will make life hell getting into end game raids.

Edited by: Leverton on 21/09/2006 19:09:26 If you play WoW, do NOT NOT NOT make your goal getting to level 60. Also, do NOT NOT NOT make your goal to be grand pubah rank of PvP or whatever it is they use.
DO find a group of people you like to play with DO enjoy the scenery and environment. (And the music if you're into that.) DO PvP when you feel like playing CS but don't want to be a terrorist or counter-terrorist DO Enjoy the game as you play it.
Edit: Explanation: if your goal is to get to 10.0 standing with your faction's navy, and all you do run missions every day until you get that, you'll understand what the WoW grind is like if you're trying to get to level 60. (Ignore time differences, just the basic concept.)
DO Ignore gear. That's right, you heard me: IGNORE GEAR. Take it if it comes to you, but don't sell everything but your soul to get it.
Following these steps will put off hitting level 60 for a great long while, making your gameplay experience much better.

Getting to 60 is only half of the game... if you enjoy large groups of people fighting epic battles. I am in an AQ guild and do enjoy the events. The only downside of this is the amount of time it demands.

Interesting comparison. But, when a single game can capture such a large audience, it is obviously doing something right, and much like you comparison points out, "right" is in the eye of the beholder.

If we can step away from politics and back within the forum rules for a moment, every WoW player I have ever known personally knows the storyline back before Warcraft 2. This is why they play WoW. Not for the gaming experience but to continue the story.
EvE has no such familiarity to market itself on, it has to stand on quality alone.

Just because he is on his second term doesn't not mean he is highly liked (below 30%) currently by the population of the U.S.

The only thing they did 'right' was realize millions of people spent countless hundreds of hours killing the same 2- npcs in diablo 2, so they made sure the mmo was the same way.
And bam, millions of morons paying monthly to spam the same half dozen npcs over and over.

WoW is crap!!!!11
but really... Once you've seen all the environments and heard all the music (takes like 2 days to get through) then it becomes boring and old. Same thing with eve.
PvP is stupid in WoW. You kill somebody but they just respawn and get back into the fight taking no monetary/skill loss. Good for some, but most eve players wont go for it.
The guild system is pointless in WoW too. From what i've seen, guilds are there so you have people to run instances with. Thats it! Aside from the social aspect of it, they have no involvment in your playing. In eve, when you join a corporation, you do stuff together. You build a home together, you take over territory together, you mine together, etc. This is where the real social activity is happening, not while you sit around waiting to run an instance. In WoW, you never really feel a connection between you and your guildmates, but in eve you can make friends that will last you through your entire eve career!
I could go on and on, there's so much that WoW lacks. I will give it credit for 1 thing, and 1 thing only. It has introduced so many people to the MMO industry. Previously, comments about MMOs were along the lines of "OMG you pay to play games?!?!?" or "What's an MMO?" or "Those games are for addicts/nerds". Now, MMOs are so generalized and accepted because WoW has brought 4mil + people into the genre.

If you ever played and warcraft games before wow you woudl realized the graphics in wow are cartoony and how they are for a reason its how wow is and they wanted to keep it that way. When you get the collectors edition (ive been playing since beta so i got one) in the dvd they said they were going to go really good graphics then decided to stay inline with the games type of cartoonish feel.
Wow isnt that bad. Eve has more quality pvp thats for sure but the storyline in eve is terrible and hollow. I enjoy playing wow because of the lore and the story line and the pve is very very good where as i enjoy eve because the pvp is awsome.
Once you get to 60 if you run content with a guild of friends somewhat casually and dont run it for the OMGPURPLEZ!!!111oneone its a really fun game to play.
eve and wow are 2 different games this argument is old blah blah blah -------- Kill em all and let god sort em out

Epic battles of NPCing ? No thank you, I don't enjoy PvE so much. Or do you mean instanced "PvP" now that everyone in AV rushes over to the enemy commander in order to kill it first (yea, the new patch pretty much destroyed even that, GJ Blizzard).

Excellent advice, perticularly the last bit. Worst part about WoW? Gear = Power. Ignore Gear and half your troubles are gone.
