Personally, I had little trouble getting soft contacts in and out of my eyes after a few days. After a while, the sight in the eye receiving the contact lense seemed to either focus on the mirror in front of me as I made the attempt or cut vision such that I concentrated more easily on the task; probably the former. Anyway man, don't worry -you'll get the hang of it in time.
Watch out for allergies and sicknesses where you get a lot of mucus build up in your head. These conditions can result in conjunctivitis (pink eye) if you're not paying attention. Best thing to do is go to a doctor to determine whether or not it is allergy induced or something else. With me it's mostly allergy induced and I'm fine after keeping my contacts out for a few days in their cases and taking some antihistamines (don't overdose!).

How long do you people keep your contacts in, without taking them out to clean?
The doctor says I should take them out every week. I typically go for about 2-3 months without taking them out even once. I also wear a single pair for about 6-7 months, unless I lose them, obviously. They are 30-day Night & Day lenses, by the way.
