the operations team know about this and are trying to get it sorted asap.
i also lose alot of forum posts because of it. i know Oveur lost the same blog 2 times (we laughed, he got angry and gave us that "i'm about to kill you for laughing" look) and he wasn't very happy.
i will try to keep you up todate with any information.

Hi CCP,
Someone suggested ASP.NET. Mostly because they don't know that Out-of-Process Session State can be done in Classic ASP. Would stop all the problems involved with using process recycling too, and you're already running the ideal brand of database to store session states in
On another note, if you hit the Eve Online home page, apart from the LagÖ (refresh often cures this), you'll notice that the second content column ets updated approximately every 2 months. For the home page of a fairly big company, this doesn't give the best impression.
For those of us who have script debugging turned on line 411 gives us the intesting,
<script type="text/javascript">document.onLoad=MM_preloadImages('/bitmaps/interface/join_now_over.gif')</script>
Not that we mind you using Dreamweaver to do the home page! But it would be good if you could fix it up a bit. You don't put an image preload after the HTML has loaded end-to-end, that's why they go in the <head> section. Think of how much longer it would have to pre-load! The middle content column overflows in a lot of cases, and we can't even *see* the server graph - why not give the press releases room to breathe? The <center> tag isn't great in the footer, you'd do better using text-align: center; in the footer class, dropping the tables and the broken 10/10 screenshot icon and picture. Sounds like you need a User Interface professional. Other small issues include the 'more' links with the broken underline.
Is there anywhere to give feedback on the website except through the forums?

And why forums not optimised for IGB? I thought forums original name was Galnet and "ingameboard.asp" suggests that forums can be used in game?

Wow, I've been using Firefox so long, I'd forgotten this can actually be a problem for some people!
With Kieron as the exception (because of his technical excuse thar) absolutely no one in their right mind should be using Internet Explorer........Mozilla ftw!

Is it me, or it's not cool that CCP can't figure out how to implement user (session) authentication correctly when you don't need to click 2-3 times to access your character info? Same goes for forums.. page reloading and lopping is really annoying.
It took me 7 clicks and 4 minutes to post this message and it's not funny.

There IS a 'cure' for it, not sure if it works for blogs or for everyone but it DOES work for me.
Normally you'd push the back button and all would be well, in THIS case you'll be put back to a "please wait" page which instantly forwards you back to the empty edit screen. Now if you click the pulldown menu on the backbutton you'll see the whole list of pages you visited, click the EVE-online page just BEFORE the "please wait" one. 'that WILL bring you back to you actual text window and (in my case at least) will ALWAYS have your typed text right there waiting for you.

lol. Yeah since the game went gold I don't think the forums here worked in-game. Always confused me why they named in "ingameboard.asp" if it didn't.

re. firefox:
true, but none of my clients would sign off something that required maybe 85% of it's users to faff around like this!
in fact, with standards-compliant code (read works in IE and Firefox) fairly easy to do now and getting easier, why bother? The fact is that it might take one person 8 weeks to rewrite the presentational side of this from the ground up. If they were taking a long time to do a thorough job.

It doesn't fix the various other issues with the website though, for example that when you click on "My Character", you end up in the Players News Center.

I apologize for the inconveniences this issue has caused, I hope the knowledge that we are sharing the community's pain helps ease the disappointment.
Use Firefox. That way, you can simply click Back and whatever form you submitted information will again be filled with the information (such as a dev blog or post).
Alternatively use Internet Explorer. That way, you can simply click Back and whatever form you submitted information will again be filled with the information (such as a dev blog or post). (Promoting firefox features which are also present in IE is fairly pointless)
WRT/ASP, it does indeed suck (PHP FTW), but it's not responsible for the incompetence of the programmers using it. ----------

I'm using Firefox too, but pages still reloading ( looping). For example:
3-4 clicks to access my charater info: 1st click "My charcter" I am redierected to the "News" page in the "Player News Center" secton. 2nd click "My charcter" - "News" page reloads. 3rd click "My character" - I can finally see my ugly face.
3-4 reloads to post message to the forum: 1st click "Quote" , page reloads. 2nd click "Quote", page reloads, 3rd click "Quote" I can see the form, 4th submit post, page reloads and my message gone.
Bottom line. It doesn't matter what browser you are using when user (session) authentication bugged.

Hi,
I'm the guy who was just hired on a few weeks ago to take over and start tackling the MyEVE site. This includes the forums, the character sheets, and other such functionality. (Plus other random web related things around here.)
You're right, there are a lot of things wrong with the site as is. The best I can give at this point is that we now have someone (me ) dedicated to the task.
I will post more information soon (next week), looks like I'll be writing a dev blog about this. I'll go over these issues and more then.
Thanks for your patience.

The forums frame (the one in the middle) would be perfectly viable with the in-game browser, but unfortunately they made the mistake? of always displaying the left frame (with all the menus) and the right frame (store, fanfest, chronicles, etc.) whenever the forums are viewed, and those two frames don't seem to be compatible.
Wish they would separate just the forums, somehow, and then they'd be visible in the in-game browser.

Oh oh oh! I think I know another bug that no one has yet mentioned with the site.
Um, anyway, the other day I was logged in to the website in order to change the sub details on my main (Zhaine's) account. Wishing to view the sub details for my second account I clicked log out and got the logged out screen as I should.
I then logged back in on my other account (yup, did it a few times to check I had it right) and clicked on My Account. However the details there were still Zhaine's account's details. Clicking on the forums, the bar at the top said I was logged in on my second account though. I didn't try to post to see which char would post (couln't be bothered). - - - - - - - - - -

I have been playing for three years and the hardest part of EVE is posting on the forums.
Its a magic trick. Sometimes its there and sometimes its not.
I like when your in a thread that is being replied to alot. The actual paging of the topic is off and posts for a whole topic could get lost. I have relogged a couple time to the site on a single topic to have the page counters not come close to the actual posts.
I would like a preference for my setup for the website where I can pick the number of posts per page. I would like to select the frames and where they display. I would like VIVOX connections thru the website into the game. I would love to have Character skills ingame thru the websit.

Who knows, cleaning up this problem may clean up TQ, unlikely as it may be :P
