Greetings:
Wasn't sure where to post this really, I'm not really a 'new' player, but am about to enter new unfamiliar territory and have not been able to find the information I need. Historically I've found that the forums always offer up a nice step-by-step guide (that was of course not written by CCP, but by some player who took the time to make it) when it comes to expensive ventures in the game. We setup a POS a while back, and we used a great guide that someone wrote over in the Stations/Outposts forum area, and their guide helped us save a lot of ISK, and helped us avoid some "gotchas".
So it has come time that a large group of corporations where I live is heading in the direction of an alliance. I have empire control 5 (and of course all pre-reqs) trained, I have my 1 billion ISK to create the alliance, and yes, I've obviously seen the "create alliance" button on the corp window's "alliance" tab.
However, I'm highly hesitant to proceed any further until I've received some instruction, or at the very least, talked with someone about the steps involved with creating an alliance. Is it really as straight-forward as filling out the very brief form that is presented to you when you click the "create alliance" button? Are there any "gotchas" that might crop up? Should there be a separate corporation created first to be the 'executor' corp, or should just one of the participating corporations be the executor corp? What purpose would a specialty executor corp serve? How do votes within an alliance work? Does each CEO get the ability to vote on things? Is that why one would want to create an executor corp?
I've found that information pertaining to alliance creation itself to be highly lacking in the forums (granted, that might just be because the search function is highly lacking and I'm not finding the information I need). I've tried using eve-search's search function as well, but no luck.
So I'm wondering, has anyone stumbled across a step-by-step guide to alliance creation that covers all the possible problems you might encounter, as well as any additional advice on how to set one up correctly so that 1bil isk isn't wasted on an incorrectly or undesirable setup?
