The only good spider is a dead one.
There was once a three-inch diameter wolf spider in my kitchen sink. We still have no clue how it got there. It was just... there. Sitting. Preventing my Mom from doing anything.
Also, there is a brown recluse infestation out under my backyard fence. I found that out while I was moving bricks and they decided to come crawling out of the one I had in my hand. I don't know where that brick landed, but it wasn't in my back yard. --- --- --- ---

Originally by: Ryea Eripmav Black widows can certainly kill a healthy person, unlike what the pet store owner stated.
I was in Mexico and a woman on my team got bitten by a black widow. She felt flu-ish for the first two days and then developed a lacy red rash on the leg adjoining the foot that got bitten. The doctors in Ensenada did nothing about the venom the following day after they diagnosed the problem. The next night we decided to leave earlier than we had intended because of a lack of improvement in her condition and continued spread of her rash. If we had waited another twelve hours to get back to the US, she would not have lived. Doctors in the US were surprised they did not have to amputate any appendages in the area of the bit. The woman spent several weeks recovering in the hospital from the bite.
Black widows are regarded with much fear here in the US.
That's either a result of an alergic reaction to the venom (surprisingly common, but rarely fatal) or a compromised immune system due to a virus or bacteria attacking the body at the same time (as you stated, you were in a foriegn region, so that is quite likely as well, and often causes significant additional health concerns), not the potency of the venom. The female black widow's venom sacks carry enough venom to kill a ~150 lb healthy human (the male, much less), of which they typically inject less than a tenth of that in a single bite.

Just a couple days ago, my brother and I were in class at college, when he felt something on his head. After he put his hand up there, a small black spider about the size of a thumbnail fell onto the table. He promptly flicked it away.
Later that day, in the same room, during our next class I felt something on my neck. At first, I didn't feel anything when I put my hand up there. Later, I felt something again, so I checked, and a spider fell into my lap. I quickly flicked it away, and it went scuttling off somewhere.
Yep, it was the same spider both times.

Originally by: Kindakrof I was eating green grapes and enjoying it, Then i found a dead spider, the size of my fingernail.
I threw the grapes away
Why throw it all away just because of a dead spider?

When I was fairly young, I used to have a... "pet" spider in my garage. Fed it insects and all that good jazz. I think I was around 5 or 6, somewhere around there.
I didn't know till much later, that my pet spider was a black widdow.

I dont hate spiders in general but if they insist on sneaking up on me then they will be squashed before I realise what's happening. If only you could buy little spider bells to tie around their necks, that would solve all my problems. Well... Spider problems.

Well if you eat any kind of Crab, you are eating sea spiders. No as far as land spiders go, as long as I know they are there, I have no problem. But if I find one crawling on me, it gets no mercy. I have 2 cats and most insects are play toys for them and get eaten or killed.

i ate a tarantula once on a dare. and suprisingly it wasnt crunchy.
and it was a properly prepared one, not like i went to the zoo and started snacking on random arachnids. i also ate a raw (but dead) scorpion.
however, i wont eat marmite.

i find this hilarious, i love spiders, i dont condone the killing of house spiders at all, they kill other household pests that are far more creepy than spiders, i once had 2 tarantulas, herb(chilean red haired) and avistas(mexican red knee) they were great and surprisingly enough the chicks loved em , both were very well mannered, but sadly they died about a year ago, about 4 months apart

Ah yes, the joy of insects on our food. I, personally, am not opposed to spiders. ALthough, I must admit, having one crawl on me is not one of my favorite hobbies. My wife, however, freaks out when she sees a spider and screams like a little girl. This, in turn, gets the kids in the house screaming like little girls, even my son. I must admit that having my 11 year old son scream like a little girl is a bit discouraging and a bit on the fruity side, but I digress. They tend to be paralyzed with fear until brave old dad comes by and squashes/removes spider from their sight. To me, the more disgusting alternative, is having a*****roach taking some leftover pizza out for lunch.
By the way, you really don't want to ask too many questions about how our food is prepared, stored and delivered to us. In order to have an sort of appetite my advice is this: Ignorance is bliss.

This still makes me retch when I think of it
I went night fishing with my dad when I was alot younger and it was a very cold night, to provide some much needed warmth we heated up some tomato soup.
The soup was far too hot to consume so both of us left our steaming mugs outside the tent to cool down a little.
Around 5 minutes later we brought in the mugs and started to have the soup and my dad commented on the fact that he'd never had tomato soup with chewy bits in it before...
I'd noticed this as well so I grabbed my torch and turned it on to find lot's of little black slugs had crawled up the sides of the mug to keep warm and some had decided to go for a swim....
It still makes me heave now, just thinking about it

hehe had a few experiences of these, only dead ones luckily.
I work on a Fruit and Vegetable stall on a market in my home town...dudley :D Found one or two dead spiders in the grapes and banana boxes. However best times were when i was younger and my dad owned the stall.
A bird eating spider ( the big a** ones) come flying out of the banana box and ran across the top of the stall evry **** themselves customers included however in the end we managed to catch it and took it down the zoo.
Also found one or two black widows and scorpions in the past and also took those down the zoo, rare these days to find these kind of arachnids in fruit boxes as most foregin countries gas the fruits before shipping them over to the UK.
