Originally by: Frater Patroabo I am intrigued by the number of Caldari who seem to find it necessary to put their oar in on this topic. In fact, the interest of the Caldari in "Intaki freedom" raises a number of questions:
I don't in anyway speak for APEX or anyone else but my humble self, but let me give you the benefit of my half isk.

1) Since there is no "racial connection" between the Intaki and the Caldari, why the sudden interest in Intaki liberation?
It annoys the gallente.

2) Where are the Caldari either officially or unofficially in the effort to clean up Placid? Irrespective of the sovreignty/independence question, cleaning up our home system seems a goal everyone can agree with -- unless it's in the real Caldari interest to leave it as a haven for piracy. That of course raises other questions beyond the scope of this little commentary.
helping to clean up the region then letting or encouraging it to get "dirty" again would not serve any purpose. However cleaning it up would help strengthen the region, thus helping the bid for freedom, thus annoying the gallente.

3) What are the Caldari intentions with a "free" Placid or other Intaki home system? Given that Caldari is a corporate plutocracy, it's hard to believe that the Caldari, after assisting in a "war of liberation" against the Federation, would leave the Intaki to go their merry way, free of debt to the Caldari.
In all likely hood they would stay, to ensure that the area remains clean. Of course this would mean increased business for the vendors in the region so the economic boost might be seen as a benefit as well as the increased security. The fact that this would be in part provided by Caldari pilots would of course anoy the gallente.

Trade or resource concessions? A Caldari puppet state to be used as a buffer between the Federation and Caldari?
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, naturally no one does anything for nothing that is not the way of things. Increase stability in the placid region benefits everyone, even patriots who would see the gallente federation in ashes need to eat, and the trade and the income generated by hundred (thousands) of Caldari pilots and crew not to mention tourists will be reward enough. No doubt the increased popularity of the Caldari for our valiant help in securing the region will of course annoy the gallente.

All of this can be summed up in one sentence? What's in this "liberation" thing for the Caldari? I don't see a lot of evidence that the Caldari have become the altruists of the universe.
Who is? its all about back scratching and alliances. As they say "freedom isn't free"

So how is it better to sell out to the Caldari for an "independent" state under Caldari domination, than to try either to make the best of the current situation, or to try for our own autonomous state with our own resources? The second option requires much time and commitment by our fellow Intaki. Is that too much to pay rather than selling ourselves to another master?
Err I think you either need to up your dose or else change your perscription, your seeing shadowy dealings and conspiracy where there are none.
Remeber the three things that govern all else. Money. Power. And enlightened self interest.
Anything which weakens the gallente federation is of interest to the State, if it means we help you gain your independence then so be it. Nothing more and nothing less.
