Full 100M all the ways.
All hail the FInnish internet gods too, even though they are not quite as glorious as the Icelandic internet gods.
Suck to be anyone who lives in a country with no competition on cable business and/or ridiculous usage caps. One would imagine that americans for example would want free markets for internet connections, but not all stereotypes work it seems. |

I've got a 120/12 connection, but i generally only get 30/10.
Beats however where I used to live which gave me less than 56k dial up speeds during the evening. Seriously, I was getting something like 28.8 at most.

Right now, 9ms ping, 113 down, 3 up, Australia. I pay a premium for a cable service though instead of relying on the hundred year old copper that makes Aussie ADSL typically ****. This puts my internet in the top 10% of the country but also, the top 25% of the world. Which tells me even Australian cable is lagging behind a little but, I don't notice it. I never get the lag issues I see or hear fellow Aussies have trouble with in this game or any other that comes to mind. I've had a few minor 'rubber band' moments in Elite: Dangerous but they're quite rare and rarely effect the outcome of any given situation with the exception of one PVP encounter, where the lag between me and the other guy was so bad, we ended up cancelling our dogfight and chatting about Elite's terrible P2P networking.
EVE updates for me rarely take longer than 10 minutes, if they even go for that long to begin with. The patch I did just now took about a minute. I'm guessing because I booted the client, then alt-tabbed to YouTube and watched a 1 min video, got back and it was done.

This varies according to time of day. The FCC passed a regulation today that will stop ISPs from dumping packets, and rerouting traffic in favor of "other" users. I expect the variations in speed to cease very soon.

It's a bit more than that:

We pay for 60 megs down, but my brother is hell-bent on "downloading the internet", so there's that.
It is sufficient.

Now we know where the Eve server hamsters are
On my ADSL connection I get just over 200kb/s download and 0.20kb/s upload; the Eve client at 7GB would take me around 8 hours to download.

100mbps up and down for landline, 150mbps down 40mbps up 4G as backup. First been the same for 10 years, 2nd only became that fast about 2 years ago.
Complaining about my speeds would be a first world problem, but I could use a faster download (maybe a gig down) for reasons which are not at all related to 4K and adult entertainment. |

Greygal wrote:According to Speedtest. here in rural northeastern Oregon I'm getting 4.33mb down, 0.90mb upload, with a ping of 80. That's a DSL connection, and DSL is new to the area - we only just got it here about two months ago. US $36.00 a month. I was ecstatic the day it was turned on Before that, was using a wonky 3G-equivalent "radio microwave" internet service, which maxed out at 1mb down ($70 a month, "unlimited" downloads but you got throttled to 256k once you exceeded about 20-25gig a month in downloads). On the positive side, such crappy speeds broke me of any and all Facebook game addictions I may or may not have had, much less any Youtube habits I may or may not have had... Rural areas are shafted here in the United States when it comes to internet service, and "rural" doesn't necessarily mean very far away, either. Where I am right now is just 18 miles (29km) away from the next nearest city of any significant size, yet we only got DSL-level internet service a few months ago. I've lived most of the last 20 years in assorted small towns, all within 50 miles (80km) of larger towns/cities, and every one of them was at least 10 years behind what our neighbors within an hour's drive of us received. It's a disgrace, imho. Anyways... a typical Eve release takes a few hours to download, but Eve itself runs just fine even on this slow connection.
Least the scenery is pretty over there :) Over here in the valley its just green and smells like a paper mill...

I really don't understand how anyone can be as incredibly wrong about everything as you are. You make bets you don't pay up on, and now you just throw out technical-sounding words like "FCC" and "packets" in ways that couldn't possibly make less sense.
