Yesterday eve I wanted to visit tank. I wanted to jump into Sarum prime to take a look at him and the bunch of kiddies around him.
There it goes: Jumped and CTD¦d. (CTD1). Relogged, heard the sound of shooting and went nervous. Screen popped up, all read, heavy shooting at me. Tank. CTD2 Now Adrenaline started floodin me and I logged in as fast as I could, calling the passwords names while i typed them. Screen popped up and this time I had some time! Shield gone, armor at 30%, threads everywhere! crap! Activated shield hardeners, AB, my X-large shield booster and headed towards one of the stations, away from Tank. And jep, I was warpscrambled. Tank still kept on shootin at me with mls and pushed me out of his range .. slowly, but he pushed me out When i was 20km away from him I activated warp and CTD¦d (CTD3) I was hot! Logged in again and realized I was out and at the station! That was neat: thanks to my X-large shield booster!! what a great piece of equipment!
One question: how in earth is it possible to have that many CTDs in such a short time??? The GM (Swoosh) that showed up in the system didnt answer this question so I am raising it here! ***********************************************

Hi.
Dunno about this particular issue but i may point out that yesterday the servers were acting out, pretty badly.
I don't know when you had these CTD, but i had three of them in a really small portion of time yesteraday at 14:00 EVE time (more or less). It was a sudden CTD with a message like "The server closed the connection".
It seems other people suffered from this too. Not all the EVE population though.
It maybe was this. By the way, congrats on your survival trial.:D

Yes, im not supporting Tank, but I too had CTD's yesterday.
I haven't CTD in about 2 months now but I did 4 times yesterday between 0300 and downtime. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

Edited by: Lifewire on 23/10/2003 09:38:28 We had some problems with drones causing CTD for some of our members. They had to buy a new motherboard to fix this.
Another possiblility to CTD is: both players use Dampeners on each other same time.
Some PCs (depending on Hardware) crash when certain sounds or grafics appear, for example we have 1 member that gets CTD when he¦s near a nebula.
So i think, Tank is using an item that causes CTD, for example the sensor dampeners or boosters. Maybe drones. CCP should work on this bugs fast because 30-40 % of lost ships in EVE are destroyed by such bugs.
Me, i am using cruisers, having my BS repackaged in the hangar until these problems are solved...maybe next year??? I wrote all these problems to CCP months ago. What i also did is informing the players when i noticed a CTD, so they have the chance to get their ship back by a petition. Its not funny to kill some1 while he isnt there to see it

Edited by: Hackett on 23/10/2003 10:44:02 Allegedly yes it is, but one of my corp-mates had a ctd last night during pvp when most of the ships were using some form of EW/sensor boosting.
Makes u wonder......

Well, when i was trying to fight Tank in my scorp, i was using a sensor booster.
I ctd also.
im thinking the boosters are still giving us problems.
untill they fix the CTD in battle issue, battles are a lottery.
Yet to fight a rat that ctd though, wish they would have some bad luck like us .

I believe it's the combination of one ship sensor-boosting, and one ship sensor-dampening that frells things up. However, both players CTD so it could be alot worse.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

No, just me usually. But to be fair, its happened to a few of my friends also.
Not nice losing a BS this way.
I like my ship to have a pilot at the controls

Edited by: Shadowthrone on 23/10/2003 11:41:03 The only time i have ctded from combat is directly after initiating a sensor dampner against magua , probably a month or so ago.
It happened directly after i activated this module. Magua did not ctd. I think he was using a sensor booster. This happened after this issue was supposedly fixed. I still think there are ctd issues regarding booster/dampners interaction.

It's a lag problem with all the drones he and his friends have out. You can do the same CTD in a roid belt with to many drones minning.

I seriously wondered that i survived this happening!
However - I couldnt even activate ONE module be4 my first CTD (this one was during warp into sarum). When i quickly relogged I could NOT activate a module be4 I again CTD¦d Tank was on all the time so far i can tell.
After my third re-loggin I managed to activate a load of modules ... even sensor booster! and the sensor booster didnt make me CTD! my 3rd CTD was shortly after getting into warp out of the jump-in point.
This was at approx 21.00 game time. ***********************************************

Tank Ceo was buying large quantities of mines yesterday on trade channel so im sure it will only get worse at Sarum Prime.

In another post i wrote drones, mines and NPCs should be kicked out of the game...why? Because i want the server ressources for real players. n1 cares...
It will need years to fix EVE. But i try again:
- Drones: Frigate players are like drones so why stealing their job?
- Mines: Its possible to drop thousands of them and lag the game out.
- NPCs: better use 1 Police BS then 5 small frigates. Every ships causes lag. Or better use 1 pirate cruiser then 4 small crafts.
- Sentry guns: they are really unrealistic. Would be better to give stations and gates weapons--->less lag and much more realistic.

wouldnt know what a ctd is havnt had one in months (prolly cause i turn off eve sound with alt+control+shift and f12) which we all know its the sounds in the game that causes most ctds not the module or device itself

Edited by: Hardin on 24/10/2003 09:32:43 As a loyal Amarrian Corp PIE has been working with its allies in the CVA to diminish the activities of Tank in Sarum and ensure the system is safe(r) for travellers.
In fact yesterday evening Tank CEO spent most of his time hiding in a station or logged off and the system was open for travel during peak hours.
I have to say that during our various run ins with Tank CEO that we have not encountered any serious exploitation on his behalf apart from a few cans at the jump in point which are probably used for collecting his loot.
In the 4/5hrs we kept Sarum clear while I was on Tank did try and engage our fleet protecting the jump in point a few times and as far as I am aware no one suffered CTD's. It was just fortunate for him that we didnt manage to get a warp scrambler on him for the few seconds that he showed up!
Tank may get his kicks in what most in EVE think is a lame way (ganking haulers and unaware passerbys at jump in points) but he has not in our experience at Sarum Prime utilised exploitative tactics (yet).

What Tank is doing is how far he can take it with CCP daring and double daring them. Lmao he even uses his own corp members to test how far they can go. And they don`t care that they get banned for a view days or longer they just use a spare account.
Well Next patch is gonna fix that i guess but not sure if like it. Look iam not into the pirate thingy but on some accounts i have to agree with tank his concerns for the rest he acts like a 15 year old with sometimes a good point.
big issues in the game shoud be taken to a choosen group of harcore players and be looked over by them so they can advice balance into the game to CCP.
For the rest iam dunno.
where did i leave that third character

I only died today due to a BSOD while fighting in Jan against Masi..
Im 100% sure that its not Biomass, cuz i never CTD before and they are so well known for beeing exploiters The fact that its the second time i lose a fight due to a "freak bug" while fighting Biomass is just bad luck
.... RIIIIGHT (but before that incident it was a neat fight.) __________________________

I've never experienced a CTD in a fight with Biomass, and I've jumped into blockades containing 3+ BS and drones.
Just stating facts.

My apologies for double posting, but I felt this had to be addressed.
I do not know CCP's standpoint on the issue, but utilizing an 0.0 noob Corp spy at a hostile spot is low. Very low. In my own humble opinion this is an exploit of the game system. Pure thrash.

Exploiters are just the same as the Kiddie who download ready made hacks for first person shooters as they havent the Skills to get the Kills. The kind of person who bangs in the cheat code for grand theft auto and has infinate health. open jove space insert them in there then close it again. *problem solved*

I too lost a ship (raven) due to a crash to desktop yesterday (nothing to do with Tank CEO BTW). I think CCP NEEDS to sort out this problem asap. I dont mind loosing ships due to a superior opponent but when its due to CTD's it does sting. Dont worry tho the raven is being replaced as i type.

Considering the vast majority of battleship owners equip at least 1 sensor booster, I'm finding it hard to believe they are causing CTD's in enough people for it to be exploitable.

True, but not many BSs go up against npc rats who have sensor dampeners, which seem to be apart of the problem. Only a small % of players pvp enough to notice that this does happen quite abit, it doesn't happen on every engagement but it does still happen and people are loosing ships because of it.
