When you use the ship scanner, the results can be sorted in many different ways, e.g. Distance, Type, etc.
When you use the Asteroid scanner module, Rock Surveyor, whatever, the results are returned in a static sequence that I have never been able to fathom.
Is there a way of using the same UI rountines coded for the ship scanner so that when the Asteroid scanner returns the results, they can be sorted by Distance, Asteroid Type, Size, or however the user wants to see them?
This is not essential but would save some game time and increase the enjoyment for miners who may be looking for specific Ore or a qantity of such. Also it sounds relatively easy although admittedly I have no idea about how the particular data is held and extracted.
Just a thought

how about some decent range on a survey scanner, getting all snug on a belt just to see what is there is silly.

Getting that close to see how MUCH of it there is, always seemed to make sense to me. Can't tell from fifty miles exactly how much of that kernite rock can be salvaged into refinable ore. You can see what it is, and how big it is; but not how much you'll get out of it
A sort-by-asteroid-type option would make mining somewhat quicker and easier, but making mining quicker and easier isn't exactly something we need to do at this point. It's not like we don't already have battleships mining scordite because the returns per hour are an improvement on bistot.

What I'd like most on the asteroid scanner is for it to highlight which asteroids you are currently tracking - preferably with an obvious association to the icon so you can figure out which are the rocks you are currently mining.
I also think the survey scanner skill should increase the scanner range. Who cares if it's 5% or 20% faster? But 20% extra range would be worth training for.

i agree with the points made here. it would be nice if the servey scanner would bring up its results in some resonable manner, rather then the jumble that we get now.
and while you can right click on the roids in the list to see if you are locked on to it or not. it is rather time consuming and frustrating. if they where to add in a little mininer icon next to the roids you are mining and a cross hair icon to the roids you are locked on to. it would make the use of a servey scanner more enjoyable.
