It uses 60 more cap then the T1 version. I know T2 is supposed to be harder to fit, but come on!
I wanna fit T2 launchers, a nos and a ok tank... unless I use a faction CPU upgrade there is no way

Er, they both use 400 cap.

I think he meant CPU.

XL C5-L is the best named.
XL- C5-L Booster CPU 170 PG 500 Boost 480 Cycle 4secs CAP 400 X-large Tech II CPU 230 PG 550 Boost 600 Cycle 5secs CAP 400
Both Boost 120 per second. But The tech II uses 20 less Cap Per Second than the Best tech 1.
So Tech II is better, therefore its fitting requirements are higher. |

Don't know what you mean by it uses 60 more cap because it does no such thing.
XL Shield Booster I | XL Shield Booster II Boost: 400 | Boost: 600 Activation: 400 | Activation: 400 Time: 5 sec | Time: 5 sec CPU: 200 | CPU: 230 PG: 500 | PG: 550
You can clearly see that the Tech II only requires 30 more CPU and 50 more grid, but that means you get an extra 200 boost for the same energy used which makes it more efficient than the Tech I.
If you can't fit it then possibly you're electronics and engineering skills aren't yet at lvl 5 and if you really want to go all Tech II for your ship, then lvl 5 is a necessity.
Train harder then you'll see.

tech 1 cycles every 4 seconds, where as tech II cycles every 5.

Right. I must have been drunk, ofcourse I meant CPU, not cap.
With that settled, lets take a look at the two boosters: XL C5-L T1 | XL T2
Boost:480 | 600 Activation: 400 | 400 Time: 4 sec | 5 sec CPU: 170 | 230 PG: 500 | 550
As we can see here, they actually boost the same amount of shieldpoints every second, difference is that the T2 module goes 5 seconds on 400 cap instead of 4. This gives you an additional 120 shieldpoints for the 400 cap you spent.
My Engeneering and electronics are at V, so is my energy grid upgrades.
My point is that the T2 booster does not use 30 more cpu for fitting, but 60. I think this is kinda steep. I`d have to gimp my setup pretty bad to fit it =/
I currently fit 6 Siege II, Heavy nos, Heavy Cap injector and the T1 mod.
I guess I`ll just have to spend the money on a faction booster afterall. The T2 does me no good.
Can anyone tell me WHY its so nasty on the CPU usage?
Oh yeah, and the regular large booster II? you gotta be ******* kidding me!

If you use t2-Siege, it is normal that you have CPU problems. Maybe you should use one cpu upgrade or just arbalest siege launchers. And max. your skills

Edited by: James Lyrus on 26/09/2006 11:33:54 Full T2 fits on a raven are hard. In fact, I'd go as far to say as impossible. Same as every other races ships in fact :).
Check out the difference in fittings using arbalests vs. t2s. Then ask yourself if that extra percentage RoF and T2 torps is worth the trade off against the fitting cost. I know on my fit, T2 siege vs. Arbys is the difference between another CPU + RCU in my lows, and thus less ballistic controls.
*shrug* however, try fitting out a neutron blasterthron, and you'll realise it's agonizingly hard :)
A C5L does the same 'boost rate' because it does the same amount of shield hp/sec. Arguably it's a little better, as it's slightly finer granularity. However, the trade off is the cap efficiency.
That's actually the thing I like about EVE. You can never ever fit the 'uber fit', which forces every pilot into the compromises that makes their fit unique. Trade off ballistic controls for fitting mods? Or relax a bit on the tanking. Maybe mix T2 sieges with arby sieges, or maybe squeeze on some faction mods.
Makes life interesting. Although sometimes there's 'too tight' which means you have to make some really quite horrific compromises. Thankfully Caldari ships _mostly_ don't have this problem.
