These drivers Made Eve into a slideshow, as well as most other 3D games. Not impressed. I had to mess about manaually removing them and installing previous drivers.

im running them on my gf4 4800 and they run great. Ive just been playing ut2003 with everything maxed out and it hasnt lagged one bit

I just installed the StarStorm 52.16x driver and all I can say is WOW.
Eve runs faster and is much crisper. I dont know if its something new in the nvidia driver or the tweaks that StarStorm did but the textures look awesome now on my GF4 Ti4600 and I can run 2xAA with the same frame rate as I could b4. :) :)

Rendering is much quicker and a slight bit more detailed with the new drivers. Running a FX 5200.

Did u remove your old drivers through the add/remove program in your control panel? If u didnt that it would cause alot of problems with driver clashing which would result in alot of slowdown. Every time u update your graphics drivers u shouls always remove your old ones first

The latest nvidia drivers have all had full upgrade capability i.e. they remove the old drivers and then install themselves.
It works for me, anyway.

I had some problems here. I had to uninstall everything and install again, or the display settings wouldn't open.

You need to uninstall the old drivers. After installing the ForceWare drivers I noticed I have 2 listings for NVIDIA Display Drivers in my Add/Remove listings.
Uninstall the drivers and the install the 52.16 drivers.

lol - my connection speed is 1 mb/s up and down stream. FPS below 30 with the new driver. Now back up to 30+ with all feature enabled after rollback. Any faster then 30+ fps makes no difference since the human brain can not detect frame rates any faster then that (hence no benefit).
It the drivers amature. They not likeing something with my system configuration.

That is old BS (and I don't mean battleship)
The human eyes and brain detect way more than 30FPS, because movie file uses 24/25fpc doesn't mean that is max of what the brain detects, and the difference between a film and frames in a game is HUGE, a frame in a game is crisp all the way, in file there is motion blur etc ... to get good results in a game you really want like 80+ FPS.
Search the internet if you don't believe me, I seen this discussion on MANY flightsimulator forums for example ...

Ummm, low FPS and lag are two very different things, Ariel....
Oh yeah- the 52.16 drivers work fins on my machine- even gave me a few more FPS....

I've heard this argument a million times.
I can tell from just looking if a monitor is running at either 60hz or 72HZ+.
I can also tell the difference between a game at 30, and a game at 60+.
If you can't, then consider yourself lucky, I guess.

theres a big diff between 30 fps and 60 fps in high end games like UT2003 etc. Anything less that 99 FPS and im not happy

Okay - I just got off the phone with a my buddy who is a neurologist and eye specialist. After a way too in-depth discussion on this, I guess the eyes can detect up to 200 fps (this is the maximum "transfer rate" of your optic nerve sort of speak).
The difference is in a persons perception which is different for everyone. It takes higher or lower fps to fool the mind into thinking motion per person. But 30 is the figured average (25 for the motion picture industry).
So, I guess if your mind can percieve smooth motion at low fps you are fortunate indeed.
She also said a person can learn (unknowingly) to detect lower frame rates and need higher to fool your eyes again. Kind of like a drug addict needing higher doses to get a "high" effect until a certian threshold is reached  .
Anyhow, I fixed the problem I was having with the new driver and works fine now.
note: I believe your actual fps maximum you may display is limited by your refresh rate. For example 75 hz is 37.5 fps.

Just wanted to say that I installed the modified Nvidia drivers linked previously in this thread and am EXTREMELY happy with them. Textures DO lookk better, and things seem to "pop" more than they did. Nice find.
I have a GF4 Ti4400 and am running XP Pro.

Please tell you me you found another link to those files... that link to a forum is not working, I think they are overloaded
