If anyone wants to see just how big macro mining is, visit the ice field in Shihuken. 101 'players' in that otherwise insignificant system, been mining that belt for days now.
It plays havoc with mission running there, due to the laaaag

Go there in a cruiser/BC/BS, eject a can, open one of their cans, take their content and put into yours, wait til hauler comes, wait for steal aggression, shot to kill. Wish for expensive cargo expanders.

I would recommend petitioning them first, before taking any direct action against them.

What is the point in reporting them first (Though I do because I was told to)
Why not treat them like any other player. Bait them with theft agro and nuke them.
They should have no "Extra" defenses...
Just blow them to kingdom come.

That system is only 3 jumps from Kisogo where our standard combat ready Suicide Kessie alts are born.
You'll need 9 or 10 pilots present to drop a Covetor in that belt. 5 or 6 pilots to drop a retriever.
Mackinaws and Occators... well... good luck. 20+ for occator. Luckily the nature of these macros makes them very easy to aggress. They're Tech 1 macros and happily steal your cans back. I've heard of some people dropping them in Rifters and other such expendable vessels. I even heard some people spent an evening suiciding them. I also heard that so far, the only response from the macros is to increase in number to compensate for the losses which are in reality absolute chicken feed compared to the staggering amount of ice they've put on sale in that system. (Just when you thought it was a corp servicing POS's... no it's being converted into isk. Hmmm... wonder why....)

Edited by: Jetzin on 26/09/2006 11:36:34 Yesterday was loads of fun in Shihuken.

Our size wasn't big enough to bring down the macks, but we got a couple retrievers and a covetor. The loot was lovely some named expanders and a couple t2 ice miners .
It was funny to see some barge's warp off when they got locked, (so there is still a human behind that screen?) but just due to the sheer ammount of barges you'll never run outa targets.
We had a couple people there, they all had a good laugh that evening. I think we should plan more of these evenings.

i reported 5 macro miners last week, then proceeded to put them on my buddy list and steal their ore.
one week later im halfway built my macheriel, with minerals from them, and they are still operating 24/7, stripping every field they goto.
ccp doesnt give a rats ass about it.
-I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.-

Damn, its like Ultima Online all over again >.> Same problem with macro "miners" there and inflation is craaaaaaaaazy there. --- First pvp expirience in eve is alot like having first sex, you have absolutely no idea what you are doing, but it is exciting and one way or another its over way too fast.

No, it was a coincidence that the covetor was full and docked at the right moment. Consider, The Covetor flown by "Sea G*ll" (are we allowed to name name's probably not), we failed to suicide him and he remained there mining. He warped off about 10 minutes later only to return to the Belt of Suicide with only 20% of his structure and his shields regenerated, he would have gone down to 3 kessies, let alone the 6 or 7 deployed. There are so few humans intervening on that whole Shihuken operation it's almost beyond believe. About the only human intervention I saw was the Mackinaws doing synchronised "Warp Gang To" to avoid can thievery, and frankly even that could be automated.
Hilariously, GM craft were spotted in the belt this morning. What we don't know is why they were there. Was it:- a) Inept CCP responding to node lag several days after it began. b) Inept CCP responding to Petitions about Macro miners several days after it began c) Inept CCP responding to forum posts several days after it began. d) Adept CCP responding to potential threats to friendly macro miners with hundreds of paid accounts within hours of it beginning. e) A total coincidence.
Additionally, I was wondering, do Macro Miners have a macro for filing false petitions about non-existant macro miners to throw them off the scent of the actual operations, or is the "Paid Account" status enough to keep CCP off there backs?
Funniest Gag of the Shuriken Debacle so far:- "The Macro Miners have gone all Emo and made a Myspace page..." Well, I thought it was hilarious. Thanks to 10MNMICROWARP for that. Seriously, if you manage to flip a tractored JetCan with your shuttle and you started 34Km away, it's a Macro in the hauler, make no mistake. |

Good point - nearly 100 macro-miners in one belt is a lot of RL revenue for CCP. Worth more than my 2x accounts, anyways. I just wish they'd move on and slow down a different system, well away from my agent - yeah I'm a NIMBY.
Might try the can thing - sounds fun.
