This idea arose from a discussion i was having with the Amarr mining Campus, what ships do they use to scout and evaluate the asteroid belts for mining operations.
So this is the basic idea behind this ship, it is used to warp between belts, and ore anomalies, and to scan those sites quickly, then warp out, it should have no turret, or launcher slots (do survey probe launchers require a launcher hard point?)it should be able to fit a prototype cloaking device, it should also be good at scanning down anomaly but useless in combat, and it should have a cargo hold of 110(this is so it can be used to field a MTU)
The idea is a cross between a t1 exploration frigate, and a orca.
Slot configuation
2 - high
2 - mid
2 - low
ship skill bonus per level
10% reduction in cycle time of survey scanners
25% increase in survey scanner range
5% bonus to Core Scanner Probe strength
Role bonus
+1 warp core stabaliser
100% warp speed.
cloak reactivation delay reduced to 5 seconds
in terms of placement, this could use the mining frigate skill, or have it's own class immediately after mining frigs and below mining barge.
what do you think? does it serve a valid purpose, or is it just a waste of space? |

has eve uni just given up on teaching these days?
your idea is already in the game there is one for each race as well as a t2 for each race
they just don't have a bonus to servery scanners(and no that's not needed)
sorry i can't remember any names other than the caldari heron but if you ask around or look up cov ops frigates you should be able to find them hope this helps
but i would like to know your thinking in the 100% to warp speed

and why is a range bonus to survey scanners unneccessary? if the range bonus is useless, why does the orca have it then, if it serves zero purpose?
the t2 are relatively skill intensive and expensive as all hell, furthermore, i explicitly mentioned the t1 exploration frigs in my post..this ship is not meant to scan down relic and data sites or even wormholes (albeit it CAN scan down the cosmic sigs, just not as effectively as a devoted scout ship), it's meant to jump to a asteroid belt, scan the whole belt belt, and jump to the next asteroid belt in the space of 3 seconds, which neither the t1, nor the t2 can do.
The bonus to warp speed to to facilitate it's job, that is, checking out lots of asteroid belts, and mining anomalies in the shortest amount of time as possible, since the ship will be in the eblt of of 4 seconds, the greatest time it will spend will be in warp, thus the warp speed increase is to decrease that time. |

no i mean why make it a role bonus?
why make it 1A.U./s with a 100% role bonus and not just 2 A.U./s.
i'm still not seeing the need for this ship as others do what you wan't this to you don't need a scan of a belt to know if its worth mining you can see if its already been picked through just with pilot observation

Why do you need a brand new ship for such a minor profession?
So simply saying you want an Orca bonus to be applied to one of the explo frigs whic are already got probe bonuses.
Why not just add an pimped Survey Scanner (already offereed in other thread, ORE version or either Guristas i don't care but with higher bonus figures) or maybe a rig which will add you desired bonuses, or either new set of imps or boosters?
I mean there is a lot of things which might be used and applied to current ships design before we say - Yes, We Need a Brand New Rock Scanning Ship! |
