Hi,
There's a guy mining in an asteroid field, and he appears to have about 6 cans jettisoned. Could he be a macro miner, continuously mining and jettisoning? Or is this likely just a player with lots of time?

Everyone seems accusing every miner they see to be macro miners these days. Just so you know while there are macro miners they are NOT as common as some people seem to think.
The guy you saw seems very unlikely to be a macro miner, a can only lasts for 2 hours so he can't been sitting there more than that. 2h is not a long time to mine. He is most likely flying a very good miningship (barge or something) that fills the cans quickly, he then jettison it and starts on a new. When the time for the first can to pop gets closer he probably switches to a hauler and start pick them up. Rince and repeat. No need for a macro for that.

So if I was an Abandoned Asteroid Recycler, doing my part to keep the space lanes free of debris, and navigation hazards... would i need to petition him before 'cleaning up the mess'?

Who gives a crap if its a macroer? "relocate" the ore anyway ;)

While Glorias post could been written better the gist of it was right. Even if it was a macro miner there is little reason for you care. If you want to steal the ore do so, if you want to hunt rats in the belt do so, if you want to mine do so. No need to get worked up by the fact that the guy could possibly be macro mining.
Personaly I think this witch hunt for macro miners is probably damaging the game more than the macro miners do...

Yeah cous we all have 2 accounts one to mine and 1 to haul
Now i know and accept that ppl can and do steal ore from jetcans, but comments like that is just lame.
