I'm currently on a trial account having been away from the game for a couple of years. When it expires I'll be upgrading to a pay account and creating a new character.
I haven't decided which race to play yet and I am looking for resources or advice on naming as I want my character to fit in with the lore and history. Are there any rules I should follow?

We've discussed this extensively in the RP community, so feel free to check out some threads in there. We have plenty of RP experts and Aurora can also help if they're not busy (put up a thread) - they're damn good with names.

If I need a character name that will absolutely fit into the Eve world, I tend to browse through the agent names for some inspiration. All the agents are listed by corp and faction here. |

Most anything will work. Latin especially if you're going with Amarr. Just remember that even if you put two random words together (Hi! My name is Left Elbow!) it can still just be the character's handle. For instance, my character's name, Rex, is not his real name due to the fact that he is very unwilling to allow anything about himself and his life back in the Khanid region to be known. This is largely for flex room, so I can shift instantly and do what I like with out being pinned down by predescribed back grounds. I can make stuff up on the fly to be able to alter my character or RP however I wish whenever I wish. So having your characters name as their display name may not be what you want to do. Then again it may be if they are a more upfront character. I have one just like that, which I am working on right now, and he is actually named after a media character. Although this is more like naming a ship after a mythical beast in hopes that some positive element of the original holder of the name will somehow imbue themselves in that which now holds the name. So IF your name fits in to EVE doesnt matter so much as you being happy with it. Fred Flinstone would literally be a perfectly acceptable name, and probably a good one for the dramatic irony of no one IC realizing where it comes from. In my opinion.. Agent names seem almost randomly chosen sounds. So maybe that'll work for ya too, heheh. ------------------------------------------------------- |
