There are a number of games in history that make a lot from a little. But in a day of multi-CD games, Introversion is continuing the tradition. Had the same problem with steam too. I solved it though by downloading from introversion's own link and then mailing Steam to tell them to refund me for their crappy service. It's pretty poor that the Introversion support page has a bold type link for Steam problems referring to Steam's own troubleshooting page, and if you search that for Defcon you get ... 0 results The Defcon forums probably have more info. The game itself though - loving it. So simple to pick up but so much possibility for tactics to make it really tense in the endgame Starlancers

If it doesn't auth, do it again until it does. It only took me one retry and now it works every time.

Then I set up a server called "EvE online". PVP in defcon is just gleeful, so much is constantly going on. And secretly moving 50 ICBM's into the north pacific and then Nuking the holy living **** out of Moscow, St petersburg and every other little town and city in russia. But you, and she, seem to forget that as gamers we are completely clear on the boundary between games and reality. Something the gutter press are incapable of grasping. Do you not feel the same way about EVE? The backstory has millions dying in planetary bombardments. Every ship that blows up also kills 1000's of non-cloned ships crew. How about 1st-person shooters set in realistic war zones? Ghost Recon? What about post-apocalyptic RPGs like Fallout? Humour is a powerful coping mechanism. If we can laugh at something the fear, that could otherwise overwhelm us, can be defused. Personally I find playing Defcon hilarious

Bethesda, who developed the Elder Scrolls games including the last Oblivion, actually have the rights to the Fallout franchise (except a Fallout MMORPG, which Interplay still owns rights to), and are actually working on Fallout III as we speak. I think they will make a masterpiece, especially considering how much I enjoyed Oblivion and it's full range of ** to do. They better too... considering how crazy and anal the fallout fanbase is As for DEFCON... I love it. I played the demo once, and bought it outright. These couple guys who developed this game along with the one other marketer involved - definitely deserve my 17 bucks. To all you jackasses who want to pirate the game or key - it's because of ***s like you that keep independent developers down, and good SOLID risky games from being released. My hat is off to them, I'm ordering another boxed copy for my bro in the Air Force, and another for my gf so I can nuke her to hell and enjoy every second of it! Games don't last long... 20-40 mins usually, depending on what speed people ask for. Download the demo, it's the same thing as the full game except you can only play 2-player games and can't change all the options.

When I was younger, and couldnt afford to buy every new game that came out, I'll admit I have downloaded pirated games in the past, But usually follow up with the purchased authentic product. I got an email saying that the box copy was going to be delayed. Then Lazy Gun (corp CEO) told me I could get the demo, and use authenticatorize it using the key I got in an email. But I hadn't got that email. So I used the "Tell us if there is a problem" box from their accounts page on the website, and asked for a key, which arrived this morning via email. And I'm clock watching at work. I need to get home and try the full game now.
