Prize: Thanatos - Gallente Carrier with your choice of 10 fighters (your choice of types)
Ticket cost: 25,000,000 isk
Maximum number of tickets: 10 per person
Lottery closing: 13 Oct 2006 (yes, Friday the 13th) unless all tickets are sold prior to the 13th (then closing is the day last ticket sells)
Winning number determination: DJIA .XX will determine the winning number on the day of closing.
Delivery: NONE
Pickup: 0.4 system in Placid to be announced to winning ticket holder only
Rules: All tickets do not need to sell, but if the winning ticket number is not chosen by 13 Oct 2006 I will refund ALL ticket purchases (this is to keep some of the naysayers quiet). Even if only 1 person buys a ticket and it is the winning number that person will win a Thanatos & 10 fighters for only 25M isk!
I understand that some might wish to point out that I will be making a profit. That is obvious, no need to spam this thread with your comments. Please only reply to this thread with ticket orders. I will not take any orders ingame. To get a ticket you must reply with the number of tickets you wish to order and any numbers you wish to reserve. If you do not pick numbers I will assign you a number starting with any open ticket starting at .00. Please also include the types and number of fighters you would like (remember max of 10 fighters).
Questions:
Q1. Why are you offering this lottery?
A1. I have left a 0.0 Alliance recently and will not need it anymore
Q2. Can I mix fighters for a total of 10?
A2. Yes, you tell me what fighters you want. I will be sure to have them available to you on the day of delivery.
Q3. If I am the only ticket purchaser and my number is picked will I win?
A3. Yes.
Q4. What if the winning number wasn't purchsed?
A4. Then all isk will be returned to ticket purchasers. This assures a Lottery winner (or you get your money back)!
Q5. Can you explain how the DJIA number will pick the winner?
A5. I will use http://finance.yahoo.com/q?d=t&s=%5EDJI on the Weekday of closing. If all tickets sell on a weekend day, the Monday following will determine the winning ticket number. Looking at http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=%5EDJI you can see on 18-Sep-06 the Close number is 11,555.00. So the winning ticket (if drawn on that day) would have been .00. |

you get 1.5b just to do a lottery.. no way pepole will go for this..

No, Question 5 answered that (as I specifically used an example where the closing for DJIA was .00).
.00 is a viable winning number as it is one of the possible cent combinations to make up a dollar.

Would be a reasonable lottery if the tickets were 14m or 15m each. Profits are fine, but generally people will not go for lotteries with this high a margin.

N besides. 25mill would get me a battlecruiser that ill never fly, so might as well bid it here instead on something much more useful & a better egobooster

No, the US East coast is +-6 hours behind GMT.
Markets close @ 4pm EST and therefore +- 10pm the 13th Evetime.

I need to make a very clear point on tickets and reservations.
In the US the markets close at 4pm EST (2000 eve time I believe).
To keep people from reserving tickets without paying, I have decided to clarify (or change however you want to read it) the rules for reservations.
The last reservation that I will accept will happen at 1900 eve time today. That way you could keep your reservation (unpaid) until 1 H before clolse of the market.
No purchases will be allowed in the last hour of the lottery draw. So, as of 1900 tomorrow no more ticket sales will be accepted.
The long and short... if you want a reservation get it by 1900 today. If you want a ticket... make sure you pay for all tickets/reservations no later than 1900 tomorrow.

Let the guy make his money how he sees fit and let the people spend their money how they see fit. I don't see you purchasing a ticket, so why criticize? Did he rip you off in the past? Did he steal from you? Is the carrier he's auctioning not really his? You should state that if that is the case.
Your analysis was given in the second post - if that's all you got, give it a rest.
IMHO, this is a pretty transparent lottery. So far he's showing all the bidders and their choices. Whether he actually pays or not is not your issue - it is the issue between the him and the winner. Seems people bidding, in conjunction with your prior comments, are going in with eyes open.
Plus, shouldn't you be focused on something else? Isn't RA running your 10/10 plex in D-F? BoB preparing to take Paragon Soul?
I respect that he used the DJIA or any other stock index. That's pretty unpredictable since it is a calculated, aggregated, and weighted index value.
