Why my drones set on aggressive don't attack suicide gankers who aggress me in high-sec? Is it because safety settings green or what? |

Serious answer, drones rarely do what they are supposed to unless you explicitly instruct them and even then sometimes they don't do what you want.
But in reality it is irrelevant as your drones won't save you 99% of the time.

Players and NPCs are very different things. A ganker is equipped specifically to kill you in 5 - 10 seconds. |

They changed this mechanic a few patches ago. Drones will not do anything that would create a limited engagement timer even if you have your drones set to aggressive, unless you tell them specifically to do so.

When I was a very new player I was in a mission and someone warped into my mission pocket and started shooting me. My drones auto aggressed him so concord never came. It took me a long time to figure out how this guy could have ganked me and not gotten concordoken. |

This.
Drones are set up to never pull any form of timer on you that makes you a legal target unless you tell them to grab that timer.
It is to prevent people from becoming a legal target without their consent.

Didn't notice this got 'fixed'. A welcome change especially for new players. High sec pirates took advantage of this function to bait and kill you. I lost a missioning SNI in HighSec to this when I was new. Good times.. learned a thing or two.
Keep in mind that you can also legally attack ships that appear as suspect. Yellow/Blinking Yellow on your overview depending on settings. Don't engage them unless they engage you. Most times they want to be attacked. And they will kill you. Legally. |

yeah when mobile tractors first launched your aggressive drones would Bravely defend the dame thing if someone shot at it.
the effect of this was essentially, anyone who wanted to so shoot you simply had to shoot your mtu first, wait for the drones to "I HEALP!" and create a limited engagement and that was about it.
one of my old corpmates lost a rattlesnake to this after i posted a corp notice, sent out a corp mail linking to the hilarious threads filled with tears and warned him personally over comms.

If CONCORD didn't, it's likely they had some kind of legal engagement with you to begin with or in fact shot your mobile tractor unit.

I think his point is that he CAN'T tell them to engage, because he's in a pod, and a pod can't control drones.
It's all part of the strategy: you're looking at a gatecamp or suicide gank squad, but if you initiate combat Concord will get you, so you wait for the first shot, but the first shot kills you, and you lose the ability to control drones.
He would like the drones to aggress and kill the attackers (along with Concord) after he's been killed and podded, until the drones die in combat. |

Shaqil wrote:They work with NPCs 100%. It is something with the game mechanics. Actually they don't. It's very common for afk miners to die because the npcs aggressed them outside their drone control range before moving in. Your drones will just ignore them if they aren't within range when you are first aggressed. You can not count on the aggressive setting to keep you safe ever.
TLDR: Don't mine afk. And complaining about it here is likely to bring your more attention than you desire.

Drones do not auto engage players.
Some say it is a bug. Its been this way since they fixed the MTU exploit to flag people.
*EDIT* Only tested in High Sec, your safety settings doesn't matter. |

Drones will infact auto enage players..... You just need to set your safety to red... Maybe if you got out of your mission boat in highsec and actually tried to pvp, you would know this.. SAFETY OFF DRONES WILL AGRESS> CCP patched the drones agressing players who attacked your MTU even if you had your safety to green. Try it on sisi if you must... |

This is intentional, due to old-AI drones tagging onto anything red, which meant that if a ganker could get flagged to them and wait, they'd attack him and flag you to him without you actually wanting to engage.
In terms of suicide gankers, there's a one to three second turnaround on giving your drones a command before they even start doing it. Anyone suiciding you that hasn't killed you by then has been CONCORDed at that point anyhow. |
