Lol
I'll agree to your MWD idea if you agree stabs should disable MWD.
Why still use a ship that goes off of speed?
Have you ever tried to use a Raven with AB to chase down another BS with AB and nanos?
Deadspace's enivroment doesn't allow proper warping. There's parts in deadspace where you can't warp out due to it.
If MWD worked in deadspace, then it wouldn't be deadspace.

To those that think mwd's running away from enemies in missions make it too easy, I think that point is pretty mute.
You can tank the entire complex with a well fit ship, and take them down slowly, if you try to interceptor kite the mission runners, then it will take even *Longer* take you forever to kill a rat.
I just want me speed bonus so I could kill npcers.
Do whatever you want to make it ballanced, just let me get my mwd speed bonus. ----------------------------------------

MWD past gate in the direction it points. No need for key, straight to last stage kill big boss get good loot whilst making the whole complex a waste as you can bypass it.
That's why it became deadspace.

1 Interceptor built for huge speed and a bit of tank 6000 m/s +. "The Sheepdog"
2 1 BAttleship fitted without tank, and for pure gankage "The cannon"
Interceptor pilot whizzes in and aggros every rat on the screen. and proceed to make a large orbit (say 40km) while not a single rat can hit him or get close, and will get rounded up into a huge herd in the centre of the inty's orbit.
The cannon then blasts every rat in double quick time, move onto the next stage.
Even the hardest missions would become totally easy mode for two fairly low-skilled pilots. That is why no mwd in deadspace, unless you want to make the rats alot harder to compensate.
Agreed... however it's a bit daft that Deadspace penalizes the primary bonus for Gallente pilots.. Personally I'd like to see MWD's in Deadspace, having one race gimped out of their bonuses isn't right. The "Farming / Sheepdog" ploy could be countered..ie.. restricting ship sizes / mish level? so lvl4 BC and up.. lvl3 Cruiser / BC / Tier 1 BS.. Granted it's not a perfect solution.. but it's something..

Maybe a hefty penalty to MWD usage would be a suitable compromise. Several times the usual cap usage when used in a deadspace field, perhaps... meaning you *could* use the MWD, but your cap will vanish.
I'm certainly happy with the concept of MWD not working 'as it would in normal space' in a deadspace complex.
You could just fit an AB. It might not get you the insane speed boost of a MWD, but you'd still get a boost.

Primary bonus for Gallente Pilots? Maybe it's just me but I seem to remember only one Gallente ship having bonus to mwd (reduction to mwd cap penalty) and that's the thorax. Granted the bonus for the new Gallente Bs is (or was) going to be something similiar but as far as I know that's not finalised.
As many said it would just be too dam easy if mwd was allowed in deadspace. Basicly what is means is that you could, for example, take a caracal (or cerberus if you fly that), fit an mwd on it, get the hell away from the npc rats and start flinging missiles from range where only cruise missiles could hit you (range for npc launched heavyies is 85km and 83 for torps iirc). And let's face it, it's not that hard to tank cruise missiles if you already know what kind it is (which your average mission runner most likely knows).
This is just an example. As others have said disallowing mwd from deadspace allows the mission designers more flexibility in creating missions and although it has sometimes really irritated me that npcs "cheat" I've learned to live with it an adapted (those npcs I know will cheat tend to get splattered the first, along with any webber/scrambling ones )

Wounder why i fit _railguns_ on my astarte, can it be becaus im pretty much gimped with blasters when the rats are 100km away.. ?
Just a clue why some ships should have mwd - even in deadspace.

Because you could just use an inty with a MWD and "tank" entire 10/10 complexes with it because all NPCs go after the first target.
Or for solo work MWD at longrange and snipe everything till kingdom come without getting damage.
Both things which can be fixed with some effort, but until this is done don#t expect to be able to use a MWD in deadspace.
I can do this with an AF and AB without a problem already :-P

You replace the Inty with a CBC, and stick some heavy armor/shield maint drones in those BS dronebays, and you've got a trio that'll run any complex in EVE.

Don't we already have the problem where too many people are using Caldari ships, esp Ravens to do missions....allowing MWD might temp more people to use close range ships eg mwd megathron with blasters.
I'm pretty sick of seeing 80% of BSes being Ravens and 20% everything else.

I fly gallente and I just work around the fact I can't dictate range with drones. I don't know a single mission where tank + drones hasn't been enough.
As for the PvP'ers, deadspace is space where you can't mwd, deal with it.
I'm annoyed and suprised theres so much support for tis thread which blatently disregards the developers direction on one of the few territorial variations EvE actually has.

The people who didn't sign this need to be smacked in the head. Hard.
Two of my favorites are: Territorial Variation: Gimping a certain type of ship is variation? Use an AB instead: Do you even know what a blasterboat is?
A honorable mention goes out to those who pointed out that MWD's in missions could be exploited, for supporting that all too easily dismissed argument that two wrongs make a right.

It appears you have already been smacked in the head, hard, too many times.
What do you not get about the inherent problems of turning level 4 missions into total cash cows for even relatively new players in the game?
Put mwds into missions, only if you give the npcs the tools to chase down and web those using them effectively. Otherwise 12 million an hour in hi sec will become accessible to 4 month old players, and this game will very quickly become WoW in space.

This is nothing to do with PvE, most people posting here are missing the point.
The OP wants this so he can gank mission runners in deadspace. He will be asking for WCS nerfs too soon at a guess

That much I understand, but that request has obvious implication for the PVE which the original poster seems to ignore. Obviously some people seem to like these implications, and others don't - depending probably for the mostpart on whether they grind missions all day long for isk or not

It's needed because if someone is deeper than 50km into a complex, they are invulnerable to PvP (unless they are stupid).
It might be harmful because it's fully possible to tank a 10/10 complex with an interceptor (done it back when oversized ABs worked, and when torps hit inties for 100% damage - you just never got hit).
Difficult to say what needs be done, to be honest, but a solution might be those booster/debuff clouds that the devs've been talking about. Deadspace is deadspace because you cannot warp in there, but you can warp out - this fact makes MWD unusability unbelievable. As I see it there might thus be two ways to change deadspace: 1. Warp drives of any kind do not work in deadspace, use gates to go back outside again (acceleration gates are two-way instead of one-way). Emergency warps should still function inside the complex, since they do not have any requirement in what direction you warp the way manual warps or MWDs do. 2. Micro Warp Drives function inside deadspace, but deadspace is also home to several debuff-clouds that might disable microwarp drives, do damage over time, slow you down, etc.
Originally by: Gonada not bloody likley, you want speed, you equip a afterburner.
pirates and wow people must have brought up and /sign'd this idea methinks.
This is the first time I've ever heard someone insult someone else with the WoW-bat because they wanted a PvP-promoting chage. Hint: Usually "WoW" insults are used against those who want more PvE or static content.
That said, I think WoW should be filtered by the forum's language filter. - Three years old |

To all the people here that seem to be stuck on the "Oh no we dont want lvl 4 mission runners in empire to have it easy" your way off.
This is for the 7-10/10 complexes in 0.0 space, now the capital class ships cant breeze through them in PERFECT safty (for 12 hours while the oh-so-predictable keyholder waits to spawn) you want to add MWD's so that others ships can do the same thing.
So what if the NPC's can MWD and have unlimited cap, and ammo. If there is any BS pilot here that cant tank 3 NPC BS's fitted for thier damage type and using standard kit then go home and delete Eve from your computer. You would never be able to do that with 3 player BS's.
That why they have MWD's and that why they need to keep them.

Lol
Use a ship that's fit for purpose then. Ships that rely upon MWD to be effective are simply not suitable for deadspace, by design. Plenty of other frigs and cruisers are more suited for missions in any case.

Have fun trying to tank a 10/10 complex with a single ship. (hint: you cannot) Also, for a MWD inty to "tank" it you will need only a very small amount of skills and equipment. It will reduce the difficulty of missions & moneyinvestement for good equipment for them significantly.
If you allow MWDs in deadspace you will get instead ravens with faction invuls and other nice equipment ravens with t2 siege and 5 BCUIIs and an inty with a gist MWD. The raven you will prolly catch, the inty you won't. Uber-loot you wil get...not.

Well, yes, it is. The rules are different in place A than in place B, hence there is a variation based on where you are. The main problem is that there is only one type of ship ever placed at a disadvantage. The answer is to not get rid of the territorial variation that exists but to create more territorial variations so that everybody's at a disadvantage somewhere.

How about all ships go slower as a variation? Or all ships have trouble maintaining locks? Is gimping particular classes of ships the only way to vary the playing field? ----------
