Only time will tell if this war is worth its place on the marquee...
It has many of the required elements... but few wars live up to their billing.

It is hardly to define this war becouse
BoB tried and in many cases succeded to lock down a system, they have very good kill ratios mostly becouse of lag and node crushes.
They havent brought any capital ship, havent attacked POSes becouse probably the lag will work against them. Add to this the doomsday weapon that can wipe out the support fleet, plus the POS defenses, plus the ASCN carriers. I dont think that BoB will risk an attack and suffer heavy losses, will hurt their ego and spoil their reputation in forums.
Everyone knows that BoBs attacks are well planed and executed, maybe sirmole was too optimistic about this campaign, or he is waiting CCP to boost the clusters down south, who knows....

We're four days into a new campaign, haven't announced any clear objectives and really haven't done much except have a few fights..... what's wrong with you people, has the game been so boring for so long that a bit of shooty shooty with ASCN get's everyone frothing at the mouth?
Come back in 3 months time and if it's still going then I'm sure a catch phrase/name will have accidentally stuck.

It's been one weekend. I think we're seeing the bombing campaign (kill off the mountian of BS stockpiles in Feyth) prior to the actual land invasion (Dreads showing up).
Seriously, I think people have forgotten what a real WAR is. Everyone is so used to these affairs that last a few weeks or something that they don't remember (or never experienced) the GNW or the SA/CA war. These were conflicts that dragged on for months at a time.
ASCN has been building up and getting ready for a war like this for over a year. BoB has not thrown themselves into something of this magnitude since G died. People need to stop all this yammering about POS's and capital ships.
It'll happen, but not barely a week into it. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

You guys should consider that what made the GNW so "great" was that it lasted for over a year. By comparison, this war is nothing. For the moment.

Anyone suggesting anything to do with smack or forum warriors clearly weren't around the forums during 2003 and 2004. CA vs SA threds were rediculous in their smack amount. Same goes for FA threds, and many of those those northern alliances' threds (whatever they were called). In fact, the GNW rose up one or two times just because of forum smack, iirc.
Oh, and it wasn't called "The Great Southern War". It was just CA vs SA/XF all the time. It went on and on and on, with one really big battle after the other. So far it's EVE's largest war (I doubt BOB and friends can pull enough people together to make the current one larger, and I also doubt that any of the current parties have the stamina to take a 2 year long war the way SA and CA did, especially considering that we've got the weapons to really end things now)
Interesting to note is that lately there's been a few threds and war stories that've been... shall we say a bit inaccurate in their depiction of what happened. Claims as to how many were killed and so on. It does touch my nostalgic soul, but it's not that fun to be honest.
When CCP released killmails to the final blow pilot as well as the killed pilot, all of these threds stopped, it makes me a bit curious why these inaccuracies have started to rise again. (No, I won't post any links)
But yeah. Not so much a discussion from me about what to call it as to what not call it...
