I used Fraps 2.0 to capture the video. It'll also capture ingame sound and Teamspeak, but I wanted to cut that out since I sped up some of the video. You can find Fraps at www.fraps.com
Couple of questions for ya, Archain. I'm putting them in here, because I feel others would also like to know.. (I already know a couple of these, too, but they're pertinent)
How powerful is your PC?
What resolution are you running in?
Did it cause any undue lag?
How many frames will it capture per second?
Do you know how much you rock? .

1. I'm using a Pentium IV 3.2Ghz with a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, two 160GB SATA Drives in Raid 0, and 1GB of PC-3200 RAM.
2. I used to run it in 1900x1400 but noticed that when a video was recorded that you couldn't see anything (too small). I'm running it windowed in 1200x1000 now. It makes it easier to listen to Eve Radio and watch TS, lol. [plug]BTW, listen to Eve-Radio @ www.eve-radio.com[/plug]
3. Yes, it does cause video lag. The game normally runs at around 35 FPS for me when I'm playing. When I cut Fraps on it'll drop to around 15-20 FPS. Fraps will display your FPS in a corner for you when you turn it on. In games like SOF2 I'm usually at 120FPS, but Eve is really graphic heavy.
4. You can capture 25 or 30 FPS depending on what you set it to. Like I said before, it has the ability to capture ingame sound as well which is really nice for a ship explosion and/or a pod kill or to show how fast you can own a 'roid.
5. OMGWTFBBQ! Did you just call me a rock? Viceroy voice - "Come on guys, lock him! WTF!"

"I'm running it windowed in 1200x1000 now. It makes it easier to listen to Eve Radio and watch TS, lol."
... Try how it runs in the 1024x768 resolution. IIRC it's the default image size Fraps scales the video down to... so having the source of the same dimension may result in less work for the computer --no need to scale large frames down-- and much smoother performance.

lol, too true; i've been playing in the 1152 x <something> mode for a long time, then switched to 1280 x 1024 just to see how slower it'd work. Who-a, talk about completely different experience. @.@;
... Couldn't go back from that now :s

Utterly fantastic video there, Archain. Seriously, more exciting than the EVE trailer.
How much did you speed things up? I was a little shaken by how fast some of the ships went down, and a little intimidated by how fast and seamlessly the SI ships were working together.

Very cool video, I wouldn't have managed much if I had been there due to the amount of lag I would have suffered.
*laughs* Ah well.

My experience with Fraps was that i used to make Counterstrike clips with, and for those of you that know CS you can do i demo then rewatch it and make the film.
Did you do that thing live because if i'd tryed doing that on not even half a demanding game it would lag to hell. "Teh lord of Nonni"

Hate to nit pick but I think the 2nd song is from the lame Star Wars game Force Commander, apologies if I'm wrong tho.

Its called Imperial March Rage, the 3rd one down in the music section. Good job on the vid tho, love the use of Mr Jackson :). Hope to see lots more like it.

Just a heads up...
In this thread...
Dark Empire vs NVA details
I break into miniscule detail what went down the night of the big fight. I was there for almost all of it, only missing the very last mop up fight.
I was also at the fore-front during alot of it, seemingly determined to cash in my thorax.
Anyways, I'm really interested in what the NVA have to say about the description. So far, everyone seems to think I'm more or less right on.
Seems like luck was really on the side of the pirates that night.
~Regards.

nva might have lost 20+ bs during that battle but i can assure you that that didnt even put a dent into nva force. i dont know why winning 1 battle would make u think that nva is gone and the frontier or barrier is reopen. first off, venal region was always open to anyone beside player ps. next, nva is made up of so many corp that 20+ bs is pocket change to such a big organization as nva. sure if u take on 10 train warrior vs 20 farmer, chances are the warrior (in this case player pirate) will win. point is u might win this one battle but do not think nva is falling call they sure have plenty of allies and resources to win the war in the end.

Let the lemming run start:
"Unstoppable > we have wars Unstoppable > not all the time Unstoppable > It someone attacked us Unstoppable > we would get hurt Unstoppable > but Unstoppable > we would realise a mountain of pain on the other corp Molly > nice. Molly > outnumbering them? Unstoppable > Yeah] Unstoppable > Not any corpd have 219 members Molly > amazing."
I think the NVA will fall apart as the old one did as soon as someone asks to kick a few of you out of the alliance with Jade bringing it to the council (a.k.a. her "losing the war").
Next time you shouldn't kick TTI and SI out, as far as I realize it you kicked some good battle leaders out with them :-). -- Kasha > Mastema, face the reality: All the juicy dots are gone. -- |

even the walls of jericho once fell sonia, frankly i dont believe anyof you, but its nice to see someone strike at the falsitude of the NVA.
But having seen venal a couple of weeks ago theres not really much there aside from a bunch of people sitting in station shivering in fear, but the roid belts sucked too.
Personally i dont see how anyone can make a living there. But i do remind the NVA if these rumors of a giant minefield is true, well I wouldnt want to come buy anything from venal, they sorta work both ways, they kill the enemy maybe, but they also kill people who want to buy your goods.
But hey im just a freelancer, maybe your clients have what it takes to survive a lot of mines going off near them. but i will say if it werent for jade and the Cartel the forums would be very boring. Only thing that sucks is the topic keeps getting changed constatnly.
