Hey guys,
Just wondering, my OCD is driving me crazy insane with my Wallet and Contract history, so i was wondering if any of you knew how long it takes till it clears? Or how to delete the history?
Please let me know |

You can't clear it. But if you want to hide a history of unsavory contracts or trade dealings, you can work on burying them.
One popular method is to put up a competitively priced regionwide buy order for several high volume items that are produced or looted all over a region. Tritanium, Veldspar or Scordite all come to mind, or popular forms of ammunition, or popular tech 2 modules like Drone Damage Amplifiers.
Suddenly you'll have hundreds of low value transactions which make your dodgy ones hard to see.
For contracts, just post 'honest' courier contracts for any of the higher valued piles of trit/veld/scordite that you get, to move them to trade hubs. Resell the rest where it is.
If you are asked about why you did it? "Someone told me it was a good way to make money trading, but I found it too much work".

Btw it was nothing to do with dodgy stuff :P just lots random stuff that makes my head hurt.. Wasn't kidding about my OCD, you should see my Hangers :P
Damnit.. Oh well.. Thank you very much for the reply.. I guess ill find a way to clean it up by messing it up..

Just expect that you will always have thousands of transactions visible in your history and (in time) dozens or hundreds of contracts.
Look up my contract history in game if you want to see the sorts of numbers a medium scale trader builds up (you can't see my wallet history without my API key, which you are not getting so do not ask).

It's not that difficult to write a script that will filter & analyze the history.
It might be good enough for a crappy high-sec corp that only asks for an API key because they read somewhere that they should, but I'd be surprised if that can fool one of the big alliances. But then, maybe even they are lazier than I think.

OP, you can always make your own API requests to see what is visible if you want to make sure that a specific transaction is gone. Also, according to http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Char_JournalEntries_XML#Journal_Walking, only the last month of transactions is accessible by API. |

They do disappear, the history only goes back so far. Can't remember offhand how far back it goes though. It's more than a month if you're looking in-game. |

There is a time limit as Elena says. There was a dev post in GD 6 or more months ago that confirmed the exact figures and my recollection is that it is 30 days for Wallet Transactions and 60 days for Wallet Journal. I believe that there is a limit to 1000 transactions as well but I haven't seen that confirmed officially.
Contract history will disappear after several years though, again, I've never seen any official confirmation of how that works. I know it does as I have several trade characters that have contract history that should be up to six years old but it has been truncated at some point by CCP.
With contracts, especially of you have only been around for a few years, you should assume that the history is going to be there semi-permanently.
Public contracts can be seen by anyone in the game using Show Info / Show Contracts. Private contracts would need an appropriate api key to retrieve the information. |

Transactions fall off after 1000 entries. I hit this without even trying.
Contracts I am not sure but suspect it is about the same. Lots of small trading transactions will get you there (if you post regionwide buy orders for T2 modules, decryptors and the like and pay couriers to haul them to hubs). Low profit but it is profit and it will hide a filthy history.
