I wouldn't want to join even if I was allowed to. I dont argee with what you guys do 90% of the time. I've been forum banned by kieron because he didn't like what I said. In end, I dont want to be the Freedom of speech killer like you guys are.

It looks like you failed one of the prerequisites.

I'm debating about whether or not I should apply. I just worry that the 4 hours a day I spend breezing through the forums will turn in to 6+.

...even I know the difference in what the mods do and your opinion on it...and they ban me often for my 'mouth' ...
sourgrapes seems to be your problem, so get over it and self admit the problem was YOUR 'mouth', not the mods actions.

Any perks you can discuss here? T2 BPOs? Free Faction lewts? Jaguars with 6 high slots? In game bumperstickers? The keys to Oveur's Evil Plan file? * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I don't recall giving you a warning for it, so as long as you understand why its not allowed it wouldn't count against you

Heh, sort of.
I'd say you should join because you get to give something back to eve, which I really like doing. You also get a small inside view of what CCP is working on. I've asked questions in the ISD channels on IRC only to have Tomb or Ovour reply, which is nice of them.
When the new Hardware for TQ came in last year the server was put online and everyone in ISD got an enigma (Jove ship) to fly around and attack people with for 2 days. Ofc it was lost when the server was put online for real but it was fun.
You really don't get much material out of it, but even then I'd say it's worth it. The last year I've spent in ISD has been the best of my 3 years in eve.
Edit: oh, and sometimes you get to hi-jack sigs.

Your player identity must be kept secret ... so even if you do get offered a moderator position you must tell anyone who knows you've applied that you didn't get offered it!
In addition to what Ductoris mentioned about the cluster testing, we're also given the opportunity to assist CCP with other testing as and when they need a few warm bodies to help out. There was a session of POS testing before they were introduced for example

I have some questions...
1) Can Mods see who the other characters on someone's account are?
2) If I became a Mod, could I insta-lock and warn anyone who makes a thread about a PvE server or similar whiney troll threads?
3) If I became a Mod, could I post "You are too stupid to play EVE. Go back to WoW!" in suicide gank threads using my Mod account?
4) If I became a Mod, would the devs drink beer with me?

To answer your questions:
1) Any knowledge regarding the alt characters of players is kept secret as all ISD volunteers are bound by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). This information is not available to all moderators or other ISD.
2) As mods, strict moderation procedures and rules need to be followed - we don't lock/delete threads at whim.
3) No.
4) If you come to the Fanfest, it is definetly a possibility!

I certainly agree. While I may not be as old as some of the EVE players, I've certainly gained a lot and learnt a lot from my time in-game; and its certainly my turn to give EVE something back. Although I haven't been a moderator for long either, the hardwork and effort that the fellow mods put in to the forums certainly makes one appreciative of EVE (and forums) a lot more.

Thanks to all of those who have applied until now. Its great to see such a large number of players wanting to contribute to the community.
We've had a fantastic response rate so far and are still accepting applications. We've already reviewed a large part of the submitted applications (still have some to go), so if you've applied, you should be hearing from us within the next coming days.

way back in the mists of time I applied to become an ooh.. what was it caled then.. aurora? maybe it was ISD I can't recall, Did all the things I had to do, downloaded the program I needed, jumped on and got told I was too young by 2 months. I've not tried since even though it's been 3 years. Whilst I would like to do something to help the eve community I don't think I have the heart for it anymore.

I have put in an application again, I was e-mailed about two years back asking if I was still interested in joining Polaris, however I asked to defer for a couple of months whilst I finished my final year of University. I never heard back about it after that time, don't know if this has stood against me since then, but I am more than willing to do what I can to help now and for the foreseeable future. --

Out of curiosity how long does it usually take before you get a reply to an application?
To my knowledge I haven't got one and I didn't see it in my spam filter.
(And I just double checked to make sure that my email address was correct for the account)
