As all good pvpers now, t2 rockets suck. The disadvantages doesn`t worth using `em.
Ask yourself these questions:
* Why do people use rockets?
1. Because they nearly have same dps as standard missiles, only for small range and powergrid/cpu are far more advantageous than standards.
2. Because their explosion radius (20m) is better than standards vs interceptors, smaller ships.
* Have you ever seen a good pvper using t2 rockets ever?
Check the killboards of famous pvping corps/alliances. Wonder why their "crow"s using t2 rocket launchers but standard thorn rocket? Because t2 rockets sucks.
Lets see why they suck:
T2 RAGE ROCKETS:
Explosion radius is cruiser size (125m), Explosion velocity is cruiser size (1000m/sec). You cannot kill anything smaller than cruiser with this. Damage isn`t issue here, a good cruiser pilot will never lose to a good frigate/inty/af pilot. If you don`t agree with this you are a noob.
Additional disadvantage: -45% cap recharge rate. ??? this is also insane disadvantage for so crappy advantage.
T2 JAVELIN ROCKETS:
Explosion Radius frigate size (not interceptor), Explosion velocity is even crapper (500m/sec). Javelin supposed to go standard missile range with rockets. With more speed and more max flight time. However:
Additional disadvantage: -30% Max Velocity, This is again insane disadvage for so crappy advantage.
As final words, i personally think whoever uses t2 rockets are noobs/idiots. Every good crow pilot who use rocket launcher II uses standard thorns instead of t2 counterparts.
To devs:
Because of these facts, rockets must be redesigned, just like you did to precision light missiles, their disadvantages must be reduced and you should give more logical advantages.

Anyway, yeah, t2 rockets suck. Hard. As part of the t2 ammo overhaul which has to come fairly soon, they need some love (along with Hail and a couple of other types. Jav torps probably need a nerf too)

T2 rockets definately need some luv, whilst the larger missiles have their uses despite the harsh penalties no one in their right mind would use t2 rockets on a frig which is surely what they are designed for?

I'd have to agree, tech 2 rocket launchers aren't bad, but I'd never use the tech 2 rockets themselves. Both rage and javs mean your probably going to die to someone using normal rockets, or any other weapon for that matter.

No it doesn't, and the OP is right.
I'm biased though of course, and I don't know whether the turret counterparts are more useful or not.

Javelin rockets are a good way to get killed in virtually any ship you'd fit them in.
In my Raven, I'm not overly bothered about my speed getting cacked. After all, I'm just a big slow target anyway.
In my kestrel, crow or hawk, I get very upset about the idea of slowing down loads. That's just a good way to end up dead.
Rages I can _just_ about see - you can use them as an anti-cruiser weapon quite nicely.

Like someone else said, T2 ammo needs a complete overhaul. They shouldn't be boosting DPS to crazy levels, CCP want combat to last longer - There are other ways of achieving that than to introduce omnitanks and increasing ship HPs.. 
Besides if T2 rockets were unnerfed now, the Crow would require a serious tweak..

T2 rockets may suck, they might have to be fixed at some point, but if interceptors were actually doing their role properly (DPS inty's are so nber, instead of being in something more useful to the gang like a BS, interdictor or even a normal cruiser or a tackling vigil, I fly around being awesome podding people and getting on killmails!!!111!111OMGWTFBBQ!) this thread wouldn't have been here in the first case.
Or are you suggesting that this thread is mostly because you think your kestrel or hawk is a bit underpowered because of faulty T2 rockets?
