Can I ask what you guys are doing when these crashes are occurring? Or is it fair to say there is no discernible pattern?

Thanks for the info, guys. Without going in to details, we are making a concerted push on the Mac client at the moment. All info regarding stability is greatly appreciated.

We're well aware of the current DoD launcher playing havoc with Mac clients, we hope to have this ironed out soon. Thank you for the further information!

Brunik Rokbyter wrote:Yesterday I had no problems... today I have crashed twice in 20 minutes.
I just turned off Open GL and all audio to see if that makes a difference. I know it makes a huge difference on stability if my firewall isn't on (due to network noise I would assume).
Late 2013 Mac Pro, OS 10.10.2.
Common Programs open: Parallels Virtual Desktop(Typically with atleast 1 virtual windows server/client running), Chrome, Remote Desktop, and Itunes. With all of this running, my system still has 14GB or Ram available and no noticeable CPU load before or after the client crash.
Also, when the client crashes, its a feeze. Audio stops, the screen frezes, and my character stays in space doing whatever I was telling it to do before, but not warping off (no disconnect). That does not happen until I force quit.
Let me know if there are any other details you would like on this problem, or anything you would like me to try to resolve it.
Thanks for the information, Brunik. We'll get this relayed to our partners.

Amarisen Gream wrote:I have been getting a crash of late when I unplug my USB headset. Did a pram reset and a few other maintenance options but to no luck.
Someday soon I will do a complete OS reinstall.
Please don't do an OS reinstall, this is a problem that will hopefully be fixed with our next Cider update.

This problem can be addressed by creating clones to use for multiple clients. You can find a guide here

Dmitry Labutin wrote:Client crash if you change Audio input device. For example you can connect Bluetooth handset and try to change Audio input in preferences to Built in microphone. And Eve online will crash :(
I've been testing this out on the newest cider version, so far I haven't got it to crash.

I assume that is one we don't have, but soon will have? What bugs have been fixed? Is the freeze forever bug (with the ship remaining in space until you force quit) bug been fixed? Will we be able to have DoD actually work as a DoD system? And, most importantly: When?
Yeah, sorry for misleading you! This is on a version we are hoping to deploy with the next release. DoD should work as intended, we had to deploy a workaround for Scylla, which will be removed with the new version. I haven't seen the "freeze forever" bug you've mentioned in my testing. I will be aiming to provide a full list of fixes included when we are a bit closer to release.
Best,
Sledgehammer.

Tiberius StarGazer wrote:I am currently running a late 2012 iMac with the latest OSX update and currently the biggest cause of crashes for me is from running more than one client at the same time and then closing one of them down. 90% of the time closing one client out of many will cause all clients to lock up and freeze. The only time it doesn't do this is if I force quit one of the clients and the others so far continue to run.
I have also had to resort to using eve in windowed mode as quite often due to the occasional crash causes the entire mac to lock up. (Can move mouse, but can't quit out of the eve client.)
Can also confirm that there is a significant reduction in performance since the last update, this is particularly noticeable with three clients.
Hi Tiberius,
Using Clonemaker to create different prefs folders and links for multiple clients mitigates this crash. Full instructions available here
With regards to the performance reduction, are you seeing this across the board? Or mainly running multiple clients? What graphics settings do you run each client with?
Cheers,
Sledge.

Ralend Oskold wrote:Thought you folks might have fixed it with this patch today. No dice. Still crashes in station and in system. I can't risk flying anything but a rookieship.
Hi Ralend,
That patch was just a launcher SSL Certificate update. Our Mosaic deployment is occurring as I am typing this, which includes the latest version of Cider.
Best,
Sledge.
