Why did MC set ASCN/AXE to -10?
A MC pilot was shot at by an ASCN pilot, he was not killed but aggresion is enough, I assume all ASCN pilots are able to read the ally tab on their overview. As for AXE they are closely linked to ASCN so this simply applys to them as well.
What does -10 mean?
MC does not shoot neutrals anywhere in Eve, -10 standings is set for unfriendly corps/alliances and pirates. MC are free to fire on these corps/alliances at any point and may be seen raiding them when off contract.
So is MC now invading ASCN?
No, -10 is just -10, we have not at this time been contracted against ASCN and we will not be invading or attacking them beyond small raids if our pilots so wish. I must however say this is the current situation, the MC are ready to deploy to any war zone at any time for the right fee.
This is clearly an excuse for war!
Last week a MC carrier jumped through Stain from Period Basis traveling to our contract area at the time of Providence. ASCN decided this was us working with BOB to place 50 capital ships in jump range of their systems and set the MC to 0.0 standing revoking our previous agreements for nothing. Today an ASCN pilot opened fire on a MC pilot, in combination with the insult of the previous week's announcment from Cyvok our standings change seems fairly resonable.

As to why it happened... umm.. someone had a very good point. We know BOB has spies in our alliance... this is fact, we won't go into why they need spies to beat "lousy PVPers".
It wouldn't be to much of a stretch that they had two of them head on out to start trouble wherever they could for ASCN.
Seleene, if you didn't stop and think about that possibility, and contact ASCN HC or the person's CEO to see what happened, then it really does look like you were looking for any excuse. (And no, this isn't a flame)
