I recently downloaded ScanAid and for some reason can't get the overlays to appear. I click the E icon, select Eve, then hit the Overlay button. When I alt-tab back into eve, nothing has changed. No overlays. Any ideas?

Edited by: GPerson on 06/10/2006 02:26:18 Any third party software that interacts with EVE is bad. And, guess what, you may get punished just for posting this thread. Why? The EULA. You said you wouldn't use any 3rd party software. And guess what....oh look, 3rd party software.
EDIT: However, a quick google search revealed a rather trusted eve site hosting this software...so...I dunno.

Yah, really bad, most of this software are classified as key loggers, not only are they against the EULA, but they tend to be a method for stealing accounts, giveing you virus's, and other stuff.
From what I can tell with this program, it might just be easier to print out the screen shot and look at it anyway

I've seen the ScanAid program. It is written by the same person who set up the Grismar EVE Wiki and made the tools ShiftWindow and EVE Launcher. I haven't seen any official word on any of these tools as to whether they are in violation of the EULA, though I suppose that ScanAid might be a candidate.
While the program itself is safe from keyloggers and such, I would wait for official responce from a GM as to its legality.
In my experience, this program isn't of any real help anyway. All it helps you is with the general scanning areas different angles will give you - it is very inaccurate - and is nothing you can't pick up through practice.
