Wierd question... does the ship vs gun signature radius affect damage with a gun?
I know with missles it is a direct adjustment with damage... but how does it work with a gun?
in the gun guide... it says that the signature radius of the gun vs the ship affects accuracy. Does this mean that you might still hit, but instead will get a glancing blow... in effect making smaller ships take less damage from large guns?
or is it chance based... when its possible for a small ship to get 1005 of the damage from a large gun? (lets say the small ship isholding perfectly still)

should affect it aswell, but it only affects the chance to hit, so it averages damage a bit

Signature resolution of gun vs. signature radius of ship is a direct multiplier. 400m (bs) guns vs. 40m sig (frigate) have 10% of the tracking. Tracking is not a linear effect - you hit 'about' 50% when something is matching your tracking. However they need to be doing about 3x your tracking in transverse to be missed entirely.
So .... yes, it's a direct effect, however you still need to maintain 'enough' tranverse to evade fire. A sniper at 200 will probably still hit you.

You are getting hit quality degradation when your tracking gets worse. Not only will you miss a lot versus small targets, but if you hit, you will mostly get light hits and bare scratches that deal low damage. So your dps drops much faster than proportional to a tracking drop. Therefore small ships have much better survival chances when the enemy tries to track them with huge guns... the "shoot fly with cannonballs" image comes to mind.
