My router supports the DMZ feature and i was wondering if i should enable the feature for the PC i am currently using to play eve. i have been getting horrendous lag in the lonetrek region for the last 2 days and i had about a week of no lag befor that. any recommendations welcome. i have already added the ports for the eve to my router to no avail.

DMZ won't do anything to help you're lag, it only opens all ports to your machine (directly connects you). ---

Instead of opening up all ports better try just to open the one port eve uses (or you need opened).
If you open up all ports you will open alot of backdoors for hackers and virusses. Open the port 26000 as that is the only port needed for eve.
Have problems with eve stability or lag? Here is a guide for fixing it. |

if you read his post youll discover he has the required ports already open. otherwise he would not be able to report lag.
the DMZ functionality is for people running server services.
no one else needs it. and as it has been said here already it does not help with lag issues.
what can help with lag issues would be improve CPU + GFX performance on the client (first check if cpu is at 100% at all)
if task manager shows your cpu below 100% during play then CPU is not the issue. (exefile.exe is the eve-process, how demanding is it?)
when it comes to network, check if pings reveal bad connections: - your own wlan access point IP (i.e. netgear likes to give ou 1000ms at times, a reboot or powercycle fixes that for a while)
- gateway, - dns server - last but not least the eve server (ends on .200)
if that all is below 99ms - then the network is not the issue.
PEBCAK - if the traffic light goes red in front of you and short after you hear a crash and then are wondering why youre in the center of that crossing surrounded by burning debris... then the LAG is in your head. (problem exist between chair and keyboard)
