I solo, to bad noone else in EVE does. Guess that's the difference between a good pilot and a really good pilot.

i accepted 3 1v1s in my life, all three were broken and some blob warped in. Now it is my policy not to accept 1v1s. ---------------------------

1 v 1...
Kind of have to laugh, the smallest pod piloted craft is roughly the equivalent of a navy destroyer on todays oceans. I can just imagine China offering to 1v1 Battleships with the US...
Lots of fun in group combat small or large.

I'll almost always accept a one vs one and honor it as long as it is honored by the challenger / challenged. Often though, I'll have backup standing by just -in- case they decide to try and blob me. I'll only call it in in that case though.

I wich there was a 1vs1 stky tread there alow to honur player's doing it fair. The rule are same as forum rules and recpekt of the player taking a duel 1 vs 1. Ths tread shud be deadycated for thos who respect 1 vs 1 fight's.

1on1's are my preferred type of combat.
I always seize the chance if someone is up for a fight - a fair fight that is. EW and stabs do not belong in a 1on1, and even if you have stabs, you don't warp away before the fight is over!
Kudos to certain RISE, TOXIN and D2-guys, who have agreed on an occasional 1on1 after we returned to syndicate - it's much fun, and good experience for both parties.
Sadly, most combat in todays eve is based on larger groups, thus making the 1on1 fights a rare pleasure

I challenge you. I am usually on around 2000 eve time. I will travel for the fight. Are these T1 cruisers? I cannot fly T2 cruisers.

I think 1vs1 is the most exciting fighting you can do in eve.. So when I have the chance I wouldnt dishonor it.. I think 1vs1 should be more in eve.. Eve is getting to be more like 5-10 ppl + ECM vs 1, alteast have it been like that when I go hunt nowadays..

Yeah, I'll accept 1v1s after verfiying the challenger's ship class etc.
I always honour them and if someone dishonoured 1 versus me (has never happened) I'd pod them daily until they joined an NPC corp and stayed in 1.0 systems
If I win your auction, please Evemail me to let me know. Thanks! |

I can see 1 vs 1 in a tournament setting or a training exercise. Why would anyone 1 vs 1 in an uncontrolled setting? It's an invitation to betrayal and frustration.
The general EVE population isn't trustworthy enough to observe the customs of honorable combat. They're barbarians who require enforcement for anything approaching a fair fight.

We have had an interesting situation lately where we have been siting around enduring the smack from the local pirates while they refuse to undock and face us even when they outnumber us. We have been offering them one on ones to outweigh the boredom and they won't take it despite all our assunrances that we will honour it. The ironic thing is they have crashed 1 on 1s on us before and would do it again in a heartbeat.
We went through a phase about 6 months ago where we were preety annoyed with the local goings on where we would have blobbed a 1 on 1, but to my knowlage we never did and now its more or less agreed between us all that we will never do it.
If any member of Antigo Dominion ever violates a 1 on 1 let me know and I will ensure the guys involved are given a seveare bolloxing, not to mention an invite to a however on 1 vs me. We may be small, but we have standards.

Lately IÆve been 1v1 pretty much exclusively; 2v1 you just run into so many problems, you know? First of all, its exhausting having to do so much work which in turn makes the whole experience a lot less enjoyable. Yeah, itÆs thrilling at first, but then the cold hard facts of life start to hit you. You find yourself concentrating too much on one and the other one starts to get jealous, then the next thing you know the whole situation is blowing up in your face and peopleÆs feelings wind up getting hurt. DonÆt try to dishonor a 1v1 and make it into a 2v1 without the other party's knowledge either û that leads to even more problems. -------------

I love 1v1s. and anyone that has gone up against me in those situations knows I honor them. Some of my more memorable duels were vs Meridious (Taranis vs Crusader) which ended in a stalemate, and another vs Marko Debrault (Taranis vs Taranis) which I barely squeaked out the win. I've had quiet a few ceptor v ceptor duels with RA pilots which most of the time are honored, or someone jumps in just as I am finishing off the opponent. Very rare cases of ceptor v assault frig which are probably about 50/50 for me. 1v1s are fun and all, gets the heart pumping sometimes. But Eve is about teamplay and therefore you will be hard to find that many good and fair 1v1s most times.

I typically avoid PvP but if challenged to duels, I have usually accepted. So far it has all been fair and agreed rules have been followed, even if the other guys have often been ebil piwates!
I just want to know what the other guy is flying so I can pick the ammo type for my AF and refuse BS challenges as they would be waste of time for both and waste of ISK for me.

I love 1v1's and 1v1 duels, and have yet to have a duelist stab me in the back. On the contrary, I've fought several in the midst of a bunch of enemies who were watching but did not interfere (muchos respect to both Exodus and the Black Rabbits in that regard), as well as a very memorable 5 minute AF-versus-inty stalemate where the terms were honored despite neither of us winning the fight and the arrival of more of my opponents corp - who did not jump in on the duel (hats off for Simon Greed and NSN in general).
I think most experienced combat pilots see duels as an interesting test of skill, and are willing to honor the duel terms to preserve their honor. I've heard of people dishonoring the terms of a duel (as the OP mentions), but I think they're probably the case of new/inexperienced pilots who're more interested in the killmail than in the sense of honor and comraderie you get with a good duel.
Vote Shin, for great cocktail hours. |

One of the big disappointments for me with EVE is the rarity of fights between equals. A vast majority of the PvP I have seen is 12 on 1. Either I am getting ambushed by a big gang, hiding in a ss from a big gang or part of big gang ambushing 1 and 2s or watching targets escape to ss.
