I make my living by ratting in 0.0. Depending on how lucky my spawns are, I can earn maybe 20mill in an hour. I also have industrial alt which isn't fully trained to the max, but when he is, you can be sure I'll be selling stuff as well. Two sources of income ftw!

Rat 3-5 days and try to live from it 3-5 months. That has been my way, since I've waisted the few billions I once had. 
(/edit Ok, exaggerated a bit, but usually I don't rat for 1 or 2 months after I've made a few hundred millions)
But that requires that I keep my risk a low. The chance to catch me when npc'ing is almost zero. When I move any expensive stuff or a bs with fleetfitting from A to B, I use an covert ops alt, work with inline-safes in hot systems etc.
My t2 sniper tempest is usually reserved for big gangs and fleet-combat, I also don't use my Raven in suicide gangs, but in gangs with a few more BS, that have the will and chance to bring their ship home again.
If I'm almost broke, I use cheap ships for suicidal gangs like cruisers, inties etc. Once I have more isk again, I go higher risk. Works for me mostly without the need to grind regularily.
Ok, yesterday I lost a Tempest one day after the insurance ran out.  That was crap and stupid. Usually my main ship doesn't last that long, when I play regularily.

I make money by mining roids in 0.5 - 0.4 space (dont have too good of a setup to risk much yet).
I do the occasional mission to keep my standings high (enough) so I can sell at decent rates.
No piracy or ransoming people for me (although I love the fact that pirates are there - extra tension while mining !!!)

I make money by writing articles for the eve-tribune each week.
It's a lot of work but it's not repetitive and it's not dangerous.
(Well, it is dangerous a bit when people are dissatisfied with what you wrote about them)

Used to do lvl 4's in really low sec, then moved to 0.0 ratting (which actually gets me less ISK and the system sucks, but still..).
Now I do both from time to time plus re-sell everything cheap I can find. 
Re-selling is quite nice, you can actually play the game since some stuff's arent time consuming.

I fly small fairly cheap ships and don't often need to replace them.
Unless I'm on a bad run (which happens) I can go for quite a while before I loose somthing and by then I've usually built up enough cash from odds and ends to replace my losses.
When I can't I just fly even cheaper stuff.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it.

I am a mercenary; people pay my corp and our alliance to hunt down others and accomplish certain goals. We destroy alliances, roam empire, and take down POS. We'll do anything for the right price - as long as that wallet is blinking, we're on the m*****f*****.
