im in a big alliance with 0.0 access so i would think i could earn my isk. but with all the wars and pvp going on i just cant use any of the iskmaking tools up there. mining is a suicide, ratting would be too. i like pvp-ing but with the current prices of t2 stuff im finding it hard to even fit my boats (t2 1400¦s around 20 mill each for exsample) i had 2 bill in my wallet when i joined the alliance now im down to few hundred mill and i think i¦ll go broke within two mabe three months with the current sitiuation. so im asking u do u need to be a multi billionare to pvp?

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 07/10/2006 11:20:23 Most PvPers are not rich. I know this from experience.
Often, being rich excludes PvP, partially due to time restraints.
I personally make my money through trading T2 modules and as being the CEO of http://www.evestuff.com.
Sometimes I run complexes or rat, but rarely.

Edited by: evistin on 07/10/2006 11:24:33 you do not need to be a billionair to PVP, you need to be one to be an 0.0 PVP player.
If you are loosing your ship a lot, then you need to reconsider what you are doing, are you poor in pvp and need to improve.
Ratting in 0.0 is a common way to make money, even trading supplies to and from empire can earn you fair bit of ISK.
I use to trade.mine for a living, now I am moving onto production -----------

I used to sell hotdogs...
but one day it got so hot in the ship from the stove I decided to open a window.
My hot-dog business was ruined as a thousand weiners rained upon the atmosphere of Jita II.

My Muninn died today because its owner got greedy.
Anyway, I do missions to get enough isk to not care what the t2 prices are... thats enough for me. :)

No you don't need to be a multi billionare to pvp, just go with the right ships, or the right friends and you will make isk from your kills, you can also do missions on the side in high-sec, they're relatively safe.

Yeah, the price on large guns are pretty stupid these days. Just another reason to stick to command ships, battlecruisers, cruisers and hacs. :)

Mining Crokite, Chaining Triple BS spawns, Piracy (Ransoms, Gate Activation fees, Loot). I do more piracy than anything else tho, so I usually spend more on PvP than I do simply from acts of piracy. Chaining rats and mining crok is my way of staying above the water when times are rough.

Minmatar are a funny race. Appearently they take the WORST stuff they find in other races and try to build spaceships from them. Well, at least they are fast.

Minmatar starship design couldn't get any simpler. They take a big pile of scrap, fill a bathtub with water and anything that stays afloat is used to build ships. Anything that sinks is melted down for ammo.

With PvP, as with everything, the old adage applies: Never fly anything you can't afford to lose.
In other words, if you're planning on fighting lots of PvP, and you're in the havbit of losing alot, you'll have to scale down your ship choices. In both small gang ambush warfare (read "pirating") a cruiser is capable of good damage and great EWAR. In fleets (providing you arn't being sniped to death) a cruiser is a great bit of additional firepower. And you can always fall back on trusty tacklers, if you're really stuck for ideas.............
I earn plenty from 0.0 ratting, you just have to be twitchy with the whole local watching. Same goes for mining, too- the vast majority of my corp like a good spot of 0.0 mining to while away the time.

The whole point of ship loss is not to grief them or make them feel bad.
It's to get someone out of an area.
When you kill an alt scout in a rookieship, its because you want the alt scout to wake up in a clone 50 jumps away and hopefully not come back.
If mining is suicide, and you can't rat, that means the wars against your alliance are working, you're being hurt financially and eventually you'll have to move out.
This is nothing to worry about or be ashamed of, the lines on the map change, an alliance is not some permanent fixture that just squats in a particular area till everybody is 90 years old.
Even m0o disbanded.
One day even BoB will die.
It's natural, everything dies.

Edited by: Cipher7 on 07/10/2006 22:22:09 As far as how I make my money.
Mining, Ratting, Trading.
Right now doing my old gig, NPC trading in lowsec with a hauler, gives me about 3 mil an hour.
Tryin to save up 100 mil before I join another corp.
Your basic problem is you seem to be losing alot of battleships with T2 fittings. That can put anybody in the poor house in a big hurry.
You get the most bang for the buck in T1 cruisers with T1 parts, or even go back to flying Rifters.
What's the #1 rule in PVP?
Fly ONLY what you can afford to lose.

Ratting, missions, complex runs and an industry alt help pay for the occasional near-suicidal pvp - i use blasters by choice but quite frankly i suck at it, thnx to chronic impatience, and anyone worth their salt can tell you pvping in blasterships is a bad idea if youre no good - but mostly an all-encompassing addiction to shiney things. ----------------

Prior to moving to 0.0 - high-sec missions and low-sec ratting. The former were pretty good for ISK (I have pretty high Khanid faction as is - hopefully that will actually be useful someday), while the latter was alternately mediocre to very good. I lucked out a couple times and got low-grade implants and such in .3 space.
Since moving to 0.0, I primarily mine. Ratting is fun, but as an amarr I have trouble dealing with NPCs that aren't blood raider or sansha, so that's out.
In the near future, I'm hoping to make a bundle via exploration and some kind of profession-related field.

u dont have to be a millionaire to pvp. i lost my 30mill vex the other day, which i loved and could pvp very well. but after loosin it i got a 3.5mill cruiser fitted it with dampners and have had a very interesting weekend. like the navy carac i had run from me. or the astarte i ran out of cap on and lost too. but i did take on 2 rax's one after the other and had some fun. so all in all its not so much what u can afford to buy but what u got the skills to use
