So this pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel down his pants.
The bartender asks "Why do you have a steering wheel down yur pants?"
The pirate replies "Yarrr its driving me nuts"

Who says it was using it to ..... sail with his... anyhow, modern day pirates do use steering wheels, - check out african costal towns with the pirates in powerboats.

D'uh, ships don't have wheels, cars and vans have wheels. Ships just like float, I have never heard of anyone having to change the wheel on a ship, you would need like scuba gear.
Anyway, most old pirate vessels were steered via joystick and peddles, much like a helicopter.

um many sailboats have "stearing wheels" they dont have wheels like a car ffs
same concept as a motor boat, the rudder change direction so the boat turns, but unlike a motor boat the sails are what moves you along.
