The fact that your ship appears in space on the server before it does on your PC is a game flaw. To use this flaw to kill people is an exploit pure and simple, but one that we will have to live with for a while I'm afraid. There are plenty of tools in the game to help you identify where people are exploiting this game flaw. It's fairly simple to avoid those areas.

What isn't so simple is to get CCP to own up to the game flaw and fix the problem. Every online game that I have ever played has had this problem and to this day they still do so I assume that it's a difficult problem to resolve.

Until then, I accept that it's going to be exploited by both Pirates and Pirate Hunters. I don't use autopilot when going through potentially dangerous areas, I listen to the local chatter, and I use my map. If I get caught, then I either wasn't paying attention or was unlucky enough to be one of the first players to jump after the pirates arrived. Keep your ship insured, your clone up to date, and take your lumps!!
