RL examples are idiotic. Its like complaining that bishops in chess can only move diagonally, while the bishop in your church can also move fowards and to the sides.

MoO was first they used to have the entire lonetrek region as there. there was a video called naughty in nonni. pretty much them runnign wild in nonni killing people and concord alike.

Zombie came many months later and they used a trick with having friends boost your shield and cap. Those that werent banned were not banned for exploiting they were banned because the DEVs/GM told them to stop and they did not.
those two inceidences pretty much made it so. you used to be able to get awayin capitol shisp. cap ships were quickyl made so you couldnt brign them to empire or buold them there though except freighters.

It's an exploit to trigger CONCORD and not be destroyed. CONCORD showing up and destroying you is the price you must pay for unlaful aggression in highsec.

Wow, didn't mean to set off this kind of war. But thanks, I don't think I'll be taking pot shots at anyone in 0.5+ anytime soon.
The thought does occur to me though ... that I could roam around in (relatively cheap) frigates and/or cruisers and gank new players in highsec space. Sure, I'd lose my ship. But then again, so would they. I wouldn't have a problem losing a 1/2 dozen merlins or kestrels. ;-)

Why? What do you stand to gain from this other than loss of security status and shortly the loss of the ability to enter highsec anymore? I guess you just want to drive new players from the game by making them think that EVE is just a gankfest? This kind of attitude disgusts me. Relax bro. I've never done it. I'm new to the game and still very much in the "what kinds of things can/can't I do" mentality. I'm even newer to PVP. I don't grief players. I'm familiar with the troubles of gank fests. I've never even taken aim at a shuttle in lowsec. I was merely thinking out loud. Contrary to your suggestion, I've actually been encouraging friends to try EvE out via the "refer a friend" trial program. So please, don't rush to conclusions.
Disgust is a pretty strong emotion in response to "audible" thinking. But such is the nature of online forums I guess.
Thanks for all the clarification about killing players in highsec.

I apologise for my extreme reaction above. I guess it was the specific combination of the words 'gank new player' that set me off a little. I just feel strongly about pure greif tactics, and what you were describing was nothing but greif. I am sorry that I misunderstood your thoughts and intentions.

You know, it's funny. The main reason I replied was that I had been thinking about this quite a bit the past two days. The other night, I was cruising around lowsec looking for a fight. Of course, like many, I've always wondered how I might "gank" somebody at a gate. I'm talking people in actual ships (eg., T1 frigs, Destroyers, etc...). I tried once (on a Destroyer) but couldn't get enough shots off before the guns got into my armor. So "poof" away I warped.
But the other night I saw a guy in a shuttle, just tooling around. I thought, "Is this guy nuts? Somebody could take him out with a single shot!" Then I thought about how lame that would be if people consistenly ganked shuttles. I thought that the issue is fundamentally about honor. What kind of game / PVP do we want EvE to be?
Unofficially, unspoken rules, often have a wonderful feel. You know ... like ... never hit a lady. Etc... That's how I felt about the guy in the shuttle. So I decided to never target shuttles (unless it's someone who just ganked me and got taken out by guns). Ironically, the next night I got pwned by a group of 3 gate gankers. Two minutes later I was going back through the very gate to get my arse out of lowsec and buy / refit a new ship.
Thankfully, they didn't even try to target me.

Just wondering, since CONCORD doesnt kill pods, what would happen if you aggroed in high sec, then ejected. Would they leave you alone or kill the ship?
I would check it out on SISI, but my account hasn't been activated over there.
Not that I would try it, just wondering what would happen.

AFAIK, the concord timer begins again as soon as you re-enter the ship.

We also tried boarding the ship with the attacked player before concord arrived, we got a message saying that the ship was involved in current police action and we weren't allowed to board it till the action was over.
