some guy in local asked me to pod him, he was in a shuttle.. i was in a domi, i said sure. he flew other to my ship and i released some T2 hammers on him, and they couldnt hit him. Embarassed i recalled them and let loose the ogres. To my shock they couldnt even hit him. The guy was stationary too, right beside my ship..
in the end a corp mate had to do it with a raven. WTF? ive 2.6 mill sp in drones, sharpshooting and nav to lv 4.
If anyone can shed light on this it would be swell.

I mean, really, not even a shuttle pilot with full halo set should have such a small sig that it would be HARD to hit with heavy drones, let alone IMPOSSIBLE to hit. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

if he had a full halo set in wouldnt it be a bit retarded to ask somone to pod you ? even if you are 20 jumps behind enemy lines.....

ive found that sometimes. after initially hitting a target drones just stop causing damage. Tad annoying but i find recalling then reengageing them helps. seems drones sometimes do more damage approaching a target then orbiting at optimal range

Edit : If you were talking about the shuttle, then it was weird yes.

they do attack cans and pods, but still that is why they have small, medium and heavy drones, did u put small drones on him also?
the idea is traking, small ones have better traking. (*)(*) The nail that stands out gets hammered.

I think drones just have a random function or something. Before Dragon, I had a set of drones turn on me. I was just ratting and all of a sudden my own drones were shooting at me

Edited by: Legende on 20/10/2006 15:58:48 I've had drones unable to hit npcs that I had webbed, but able to hit it fine when it wasn't webbed. Their orbiting speed was too fast for their tracking speed.

Edited by: Sophise Seksi on 21/10/2006 01:12:15 My drones have absolutely no problems hitting a shuttle or cans.
I use light drones for small ships, cans, etc... and actually stick to the theory that lights should be for frigs, intys, etc., mediums should be for cruisers, destroyers, etc., and heavies should be for anything bigger.
I use sentries for stationary objects... (WOW I FOUND A USE FOR SENTRY DRONES!!!)
People who can't hit something with a drone aren't using the right tool for the job. Quit slapping as many big drones as you possibly can into a Domi's bay and you'll be fine. - Download the Eve Backstory eBook

your post contains much truth as I follow those same guidelines for my own domi however we are talking about a shuttle even heavy drones should be able to shread it to pieces.

If the shuttle is stationary, I'd go with sentries.
If it's on the move, I'd go with lights - heavies are too slow and the shuttle would probably beat them to the station/gate/whatever.
In any case, there's absolutely nothing wrong with drone tracking IMO... people just need to use the right sized drone for the job. - Download the Eve Backstory eBook

If I am not mistaken, a turret on a drone that is orbiting a stationary or nearly stationary target technically should not need to track. as the target is stationary, the weapon would always be pointed at the same angle, unless the drones tumble randomly within their orbit.. which they do not do.
the physics is wrong I think.

It's a known problem, that EVE doesn't calcualte tracking like that. And yes, I've seen this issues as well: - drones orbiting so fast, they don't hit anymore - drones stoping doing damge even though they still shoot at a target.

Fit Omni Directional tracking CPUs and you can hit anything even INTYs with your ogres.. problem solved..
