Edited by: Estelle Matsuko on 12/10/2006 12:41:19 If we want people to leave NPC corps, why not set the corp tax of NPC corps to 15% for characters over 3 months old?
I am
a) over three months old b) in an npc corp whilst I hunt for a new corp.

Edited by: Estelle Matsuko on 12/10/2006 13:01:56 Edited by: Estelle Matsuko on 12/10/2006 12:59:53 It doesn¦t force them to leave, merely forces them to pay protection money to the government. After all, being immune to war decs has got to be worth something right?
Most Corps gather tax from thier pilots, why shouldn¦t npc corps?
Secondly, it taxes the profits of macro miners and other assorted ilk, not a bad thing in and of itself.
Not only that, those NPC corp freighter pilots have an advantage over player corp freighter pilots when it comes to profit making, lets level the field |

I don't see why people in NPC corps should be immune to taxes. They can just join a corp that has 0% tax. I would just like the non-noobs to have to pay for the privelege of not being war-dec'd.

Edited by: Patch86 on 12/10/2006 13:34:24 I aggree. Not to force people out of NPC corps (if they don't want to leave, they shouldn't have to- and a little tax is unlikely to force them) but because it makes sense.
1) If you were a multi-region ultra corp, like the NPCs are, wouldn't you want to tax your memebers? Most player corps do, it seems logical that the NPC ones would want to jump on the gravy train too. In rea life, Nations (read = empires) tax their subjects, thers no reason the in game Empires wouldn't aswell.
2) It does create another avantage of being in a player corp. Are you sick of NPC Empire tax rates? Create a player corp! Control your own destiny! Escape the tax regime! It even has a RL counterpart- Tax Evasion! EVE gets deeper.......
3) ISK sink. We needs some ISK sinks. ISK sinks are good. This would be a nice big one, so yay.
I'd be in favour of, lets say, 10% for everyone, but maybe your first month in the noob corp is tax free. We do love our noobs, don't want them getting too badly ured while they're stills crimping and saving.
EDIT: Also, it'd have a good role-play excuse what with Faction Warfare coming up. All the empires are mobilising for war, right? So they'll need to raise some funds! Excellent.

1. It costs isk to set up a corp, even a 1 man corp. More isk out of your wallet.
2. If you get a war declaration against you and leave (leaving your alt in charge), you go back to the NPC corp and it¦s 15% tax. More isk out of your wallet.
3. As you are in a player corp you CAN set up POS, and because you¦ve been wardecced, the corp declaring on you can knock it down, after all, as you have left your one man corp, leaving your alt in charge, there¦s no one going to defend it. |

you are not taxed on any bounties or mission rewards below 30k isk...
for the first month the rats you fight won't be higher bounty than that, or if they are, its time to find a player corp.
Mission rewards, meh, I can't remeber what level 1 missions pay out for thier reward (you don't get taxed on the "on time bonus", just the mission reward)
I would be all for NPC corps having a 10% tax... same as most player corps.

we should not force players to leave NPC corps. Players should be free to remain in NPC corps their entire life.
Bt players should graduate from the academies after 6 months, so they are moved to the faction NPC corp instead of the academy.
Then, if you if you are in a faction's corp, like Caldari Provisional, you are automatically involved in faction warefare, and can be attacked freely from anyone from the opposing faction. You gotta give and take from your faction. Want their protection, gotta fight their battles.
Done.

No one is suggesting players be forced out of NPC corps. My suggestion merely gives them a financial penalty for being mission runners in an NPC corp and avoiding war declarations.
If they leave to a player corp, they do so of thier own free will....and greed of course, but hey, whats EVE without a little greed?

that sayd i see no problem with adding a 5-10% tax to the NPC corps, kinda realistic that you pay the corp for protection, however 15% too deep friend, i would never join a corp with above 10% tax NPC or player corp, 15% is simple to much !, as someone already sayd 10% is normal for player corps,, soo sure a person in a NPC corp would be fair to pay the same tax,,, but to have to pay more !! lol sorry friend that's just not good idea.

I have no problem with people in NPC corps, but when factional warfare comes, if your part of a corp involved in the conflict, it makes sense your expected to fight along side your corpmates while you at war with the other three faction's corps.
No one is forceing anyone to leave anything. They can freely choose to stay or leave at any time.

At what point did I suggest we force people out of NPC corps?. At what point did I force them to play the game my way?. By the way did you notice that I¦m in an NPC corp at all?
We "force" people to lowsec because the rewards are better. They don¦t have to go unless they want to earn more isk
We "force" people to 0.0 because the rewards are better. They don¦t have to go unless they want to earn more isk
My suggestion is merely an extension of CCP¦s own idea of making rewards better the more risk you take. Players can stay in NPC corps for as long as they like, and don¦t mind paying the "protection isk" for a war free life. |

I haven't read every post but aren't you just suggesting whats already been done a 100times before and thats cutting mission rewards, but not just cutting them it also cuts the bounties on rats and stuff. Will just create more carebare miners though honestly i would prefer the tax aproach to cutting mission reward to the individual mission tampering as that never really seems to work well. --------------------------------------------------- |Phoon = biggest baddest ship in eve-------| |Oh and somebody kill all those old unused| |secure cans (Personal Crusade)------------|

Nope, i¦m not suggesting cutting mission bounties and rewards, because that would affect people in player corps as well as those in NPC corps, and lets face it, bounties and rewards are **** poor in empire already.
My idea just creates another decision for the player to make.
Do I want a war free life and 15% tax? NPC corp
Do I want a life with a risk of war and 10% or less tax? Empire corp
Do I want a life with a reasonable amount of risk and quite good prospects for serious isk? Lowsec corp
Do I want to blob the hell out of a star system, drop nodes at will, take part in alliance warfare, hunt for the elusive officer spawn, do a complex to death, make some (with a little luck) SERIOUS isk? 0.0 corp/ alliance corp.
See? It¦s a natural progression in pursuit of the holy isk.

Quite like some of your idea there.
I'm not entirely comfortable with forcing people to be vulnerable to warfare without choice though.
Perhaps the suggested taxation could be applied to the graduating corps only.
Other than that, I agree with the OP, and have suggested it myself before.

It seems we have a communication problem here. Several people have mentioned that it is WRONG to "Force" people to move out of NPC corporations.
At no point does my suggestion do that.
They can stay as long as they want. No problemo. Whats that? you don¦t want to be bothered with Wars and inconveniences like that? No problemo, thats 15% of your rewards and bounties please, and Guido here will ensure you are not disturbed.
It forces nothing. It merely presents the player with a choice.
No risk..Low Isk Moderate risk..more isk High risk..good isk Insane risk...mucho isk.
See? not once has the player been forced to do anything.
So please, no more "Wrong to force the players" comments, because once again thats not what i¦m suggesting.

that's all good in though ), however i disagree that 15% is the right way to go !, ppl in NPC corps already suffer from less than those in player corps, the ppl in player corps have corps members to suport them so they can get out in low-sec, even 0.0 if a good player corp were theirs alot more to be earned !, us in the NPC corps do not have that freedom, so we are already punished for it, thuss already paying for the protection against wardec, which is fair anough offcause ! you get wardec protection but is not able to hunt mission in 0.0 or low-sec without high risk which is fair !, soo im failing to see why the NPC corp dude should suffer a higher tax than the dude in a player corp. and this issue will semce as a atempt to force even if it isn't )
again 10% and i'l jump on the wagon ) |

this is a good idea...
also, NPC corps status should be Standings Based after 6 months of employment. There should be two divisions of NPC corps: Civilian and Union (or any names that you wish).
Union members consist of pilots that:
a) are more than 6 months old and have good standing with the corp (a standing obtainable with a decent amount of work within a 6 month timespan. maybe 2.5. nothing too hard to obtain. but it should be set where you cannot just stay in the corp with no effort)
b) are n00bs; less than 6 months old
c) are taxed (or perhaps a 'bill/rent'. think of it as 'dues'. individual standing can reduce this. failure to pay means you lose Union status and immediately get dumped into Civilian status)
d) are not ellible for war declarations
e) unable to anchor items in space
Civilian members are:
a) more than 6 months of employment;
b) no standings required (go ahead and be lazy)
c) non-taxed
d) open for war declarations
e) able to anchor items in space
basically, a n00b player will automatically be Unionized upon creation with whatever starting corp they wish. you may also join any other NPC corp withint the first 6 months and be granted Union Status. once the 6 months hit, you have to have a high status to remain Unionized. then taxes/bills kick in. if conditions are not met, then you lose Union Status and are considered in the Civilian corp.
this will allow Player Corps to declare war on Civilian branches. and hopefully reduce the people who 'hide' in NPC corps at NO RISK. perhaps it will encourage people to join a real corp where they can coordinate things for protection and better profits through teamwork.
it's just an attempt to cut down on those people who abuse the NPC corp situation. you can still stay in a NPC corp if you wish, and with a little bit of work. then perhaps other Player corps would be able to declare war on the civilians so we can blow up stupid cans and prevent the lazy (no risk) from being completely protected (reward).
not sure this is the right thing to do. maybe not. but, i believe that something like this would be a lot better than letting NPC corp abusers roam free and have the same 'rights' that the vulnerable have. sorry, i don't see much 'bonus', besides teamwork and pride, in being in a Player Corp compared to being in a n00b corp. n00b corps can do everything i can. well, besides being wardec'd and using a corporate hangar (which costs money)...

the structure of eve should be as follows
More risk = more reward
in terms of reward you have the following
npc corp in empire< player corps in empire< player corps in 0.0
in terms of risk you have
npc corp in empire< player corps in empire< player corps in 0.0
the risk balance to reward for player corps in empire and npc corps in empire could use a few tweakings
player corps based in empire need a few benefits over npc corps in empire dew to the increased risks they take knowledge is power.... guard it well |

Union: a) i like to see this higher 5+
b) cool
c) again more than 10% i think it will be too much
d) cool
e) why the: unable to anchor thing ? i don't really se much problem with that but maybe i missed something i problely did ) personelly i dont use it really just curios to why ? hehe
Civilian a) cool
b) cool
c) cool
d) cool
e) kk
and it could be even cooler with a 3rd very high standing status like 9+ requirement |
