By the way the occupiers know what they want, they've voted on many manifestos', but Fox news keeps trying to ridicule them by saying they have no idea what they're fighting for ( It's just not true)

And you so glibly accuse people of getting their news from one source. YOU my friend need to branch out. A little Fox will round you out a bit. I watch and read a bunch. New York Times every day at work (which is akin to reading the enemies daily plans) and Wall Street Journal every night (which is like a cozy blanket to return my faith in humanity). Throw in some Fox when I want headlines and local news again when I want the liberal spin. Well rounded I am indeed.
Here's a tip too, if you can't watch Fox or any other right-leaning institution without getting furious you have a problem. You should be able to watch and read from all sources. Otherwise you're just not worth listening to.

Anyway, I'll expand my previous attribution of stupidity in this thread.
Pocos were a stupid idea. An "occupy Jita" protest to complain about them is a stupid idea. Right winger critiques in this thread of occupy movements in rl and in-game are stupid.

That's not how people get rich. You fail.
This.
Most of the wealthy are wealthy by virtue of old money. There is a small percentage that become wealthy by new money, but most of that is by virtue of luck and just having a good idea at the right time. Those who actually work hard and save money are unlikely to ever progress above the middle class unless they experience a similar stroke of luck and become the next CEO of whatever company they work for. To believe the Republican narrative of "hard work will make you rich" just shows one's ignorance of the system.
When the occupy movement began it was a good thing, an expression at the people being fed up with wall street corruption wanting the wealthy to be held accountable rather than getting a slap on the wrist and another hundred million dollar bonus the next year. But I knew it would become very stupid very quickly, and it did. Hippies everywhere, and no two people will say the movement stands for the same thing. It's a preview of the socialist utopia some of them seem to believe in. Damn hippies. The one thing I can give the Tea Party credit for is they for the most part have a unified message and don't stink wherever they go. They also have those snazzy revolutionary costumes. As far as mental stability though, I'd trust neither group. |

Fair enough.
The housing crisis was caused by a government ideology that purported that everyone deserves a house of their own. They aided the cause via federally backed, Fannie and Freddy. As they were federally backed there was not anywhere near the risk assessment that a privately held bank would exercise. Why would they? They are not accountable to shareholders with pitchforks and torches.
Not to mention, and this is the real killer, the aforementioned owned something like 90% of the secondary market. Meaning they were buying up mortgages originated by others faster than fat kids gobble up doughnuts. It didn't take the originators long to figure out that they could loan money to ANYONE without risk as they would simply sell the mortgage to Fannie and Freddy the next day anyway. Take their paycheck and move on to the next guy that had no business buying a home.
Think about it too, who can blame the mortgage originators? Suddenly you have a no risk, government-backed free ticket to loan monty. The government has effectively told you that you can loan any amount to anybody and we'll assume the debt. Naturally they were falling over themselves to offer loans. Naturally a LOT of those loans went to people whom didn't have a prayer of seeing the loan to maturity.
Following the rabbit hole further and it's not hard to understand that home builders were artificially inflated as the demand for houses obviously skyrocketed and the landscape was filled with new homes. People were buying them faster than they could be built.
Lo and behold the inevitable happened and all of these people whom got easy loans couldn't actually afford their new homes, they began forclosing in droves. Leaving us with a glut of empty houses that need to be resold before we can ever recover. The answer is more foreclosures. Until they've all forclosed we can't recover.
So yea, definitely we need more government involvement in housing. They've done a real bang up job so far

And ammo. Don't forget ammo. Every time those guns fire, CCP needs to tax it so that more isk leaves the game.
That, after all, would be the best ISK sink that could possibly exist in eve. It'd be right up there with taxing 5% on every unit of minerals mined, with an index based on the average price of mins. That would be an ideal way to drive up the price of mins as well. Make veldspar cost 500 per unit.
The problem is when CCP meddles in the market, the effects are massive and reach much farther then planned. Which was, after all, the reason that they hired an economist in the first place, as several such attempts in the past blew up spectacularly in game.
What ever happened to that promise not to meddle in the market anymore, CCP?

To be fair, Canada (and I love you guys) gets to reap the benefit of not needing to fund a respectable national defense. I mean sure, you've got your armed forces and there's no doubt it's manned by honorable and brave men but on your own you'd be meat to anybody with a grudge. Of course you do have a nearby neighbor as an ally that does indeed fund and man the most feared armed force on the planet. You don't f*ck with Canada because you're afraid of Canada after all...
Socialism is certainly easier when you don't have to have pay for an army in addition to healthcare for everyone. Not to mention your entire country's population is less than many of our 50 states.

Economy Harder
That economist job is to recommend economic changes against game play changes. Remember the refine nerfs? Every suggestion that comes out of that Dev that gets implimented will make your high sec safe life that much harder, that I can gaurantee.
What I do know that the ultimate goal in eve is for players to be able to control the entire market. So that already happened once recently all npc trade goods suddenly in the hands of players? Which leaves PI structures (which I am still going when is that going to be handed over to us? PI products aplenty to build more PI stuctures now) Skill books, implants a few other mentionables.
Ammo and ship destruction is a mineral sink it doubles up as a isk sink via sales taxes and sure lets raise sales taxes so that corporate standings actually matter this will impact the market a bit, bring a bit of realism into shutteling products from zone a to zone b.
Mining the activity of is an isk sink as well if you cannot figure that out jump out the nearest airlock. Its only an Mineral Faucet.
While we are at it lets make refine taxes higher in high sec to the point it requires extremly high standings are required to be tax free. Then make thier efficency lower to the point youd need near perfect skills to get away scot free without goofing up.
I mean the supply of veltators and ibis must be drying up it be time soon to start restocking them.
Bottom Line is I want to be able to make low and null just as appealing or encourage more teamwork to overcome the disadvantages of high sec.
Also CCP should add corporate HQ PI centers that corporate officers can land on a planet and any member of that corp can link up to it. It would function as a launch pad and central hub but cant build anything. Upgrading increases the number of connections and storage.

1. Nah, they are still playing or have returned due to CCP refocusing on FiS. 2. Nah, there are still a thousand other ways to make Isk. 1. PCU says otherwise 2. If they can make money doing something else why would they be asshurt?
1. PCU =/= subscription numbers 2. Asshurt PI people need to do their own math before they whine away. |

I dont think the NeX protesters got what they want the few of them there are. Which was store removal. Instead we get more clothes added to the store possibly soon here in Curcible 1.1 patch.

Oh, for the love of god... Ok, from the top, since no one pays attention...
A) I'm making a frigging mountain of isk off this. I do not need some half wit telling me 'herp riase prices! derp!' I've already made 14 billion (that's billion with a 'b') isk off this. So far, with no end in sight.
B) The reason that I'm opposed to it is twofold. While it's great for my, personal, wallet, unlike, apparently most of the remaining players, I can see past my own wallet size to the bigger picture. Higher Tech II prices negatively effect the player base in the long run. It was one of the reasons that CCP broke up the big Tech II monopolies in the old days.
The other reason is that it gives big alliances way too much influence over the market. Not that they don't dominate it already, but giving them a leg up on PI on top everything else just seems to be gilding the lily, so to speak. It's NOT going to suddenly infuse players with the urge to flock into lowsec or null space, no matter how hard the devs might wish it did. They really should give the alternate idea I proposed a long time back on the old forums a whirl. That might actually get people out of high sec.
C) Targeting carebears is really stupid. I live in low and nullsec, and even I know this. Why? Because it's 50% of the player base. Get them good and honked off, and they leave (particularly now with things like TOR around to give them someplace else to get their space ships fix). Which means CCP cuts development, which means the rest of us get fewer goodies under the tree.
Whine that nullsec doesn't need carebears all you like, and perhaps in game you might be right, but CCP needs their subscription money to keep us all in the eve we would like to become accustomed to.
