Chasing random people in your territory in 0.0 is currently a pain, because avoiding pvp is too easy in 0.0. You can just go to safe spot or log or do both. If you don't have an agression timer running, you are safe anyway. If you have, you are still invulnerable. Either you stay at your PC and warp around, until the timer runs out or you just log on deepsafe, where noone can probe you in time. Local is too mighty, logoffski is too mighty, safe-spotting is too mighty, probes are too weak. There is no risk of dying in a 0.0 system, if you don't like to die. You can bore the home alliance to death, until they leave you alone at NO risk.
It's stupid, it needs to be fixed asap (=Kali 1). It's one reason, why 0.0 pvp often sux and why the only real way of keeping your space clean is shooting intruders right at the gates, when they try to move in and out.
/edit forgot to mention local.

Originally by: Kassidus Ok ive been playing over 8 months now , i dont use BM's and see no reason to , I get along just fine without em so I say remove em. Cut down on lag etc..
The only need for BM's is if you go to 0.0 to avoid gate camps well i dont do that because A dont like BM's B dont like to get podded at gate camps.
I would however like to go to 0.0, so my suggestion is scrap BM's all together delete player BM's all of them and stop there use and creation.
secondly stop gate camps, by instituting a weapons lock within 500km of a warp gate.
Problems solved everyone is free to travel, barring warp bubbles and such but that can be worked around etc.
This may get more people into 0.0 it would deffinatley get me out there.
The whole point in 0.0 is that it is NOT safe. If this is what you want from 0.0 to "get you out there", then you will find you are surrounded by empire players in 0.0. People who live in 0.0 are there BECAUSE it is difficult. Also, it only takes a small amount of common sense to avoid gate camps if your brain is engaged and you don't afk autopilot.
Risk = Reward my friend. Stick to Jita, it sounds like it suits you better.

Originally by: Kassidus Basically I meant that BM's arent important and if i can get along without using them then its possible for anyone else to asside of corse from gate camps.
which is why i brought up the weapons lock around gates idea.
and it would make the game more interesting cause you would have to play smarter to catch your foes. [/quote
BM's are important to me. It helps me warp to my favored mining spots for one. Second, what makes a insta so bad? Being able to travel in such fashion is something I appreciate lots. I vote for keeping BM's. Period.

Originally by: Kassidus I understand , Im not trying to **** people off with this idea cause its just that an idea, if someone can add constructive ideas that would help, everyone knows the current system is flawed as great as this game is :).
1: devs want people to go to 0.0 2: Number 1 reason for people not going = Gate camps
so we need a solution :) thats all im saying.
1. You have right in the fact that the devs want players out in 0.0 but thatĘs not the whole truth. a)They donĘt want every single player out in 0.0. EvE has something called empire to and lots of the contents in EvE are located in empire. b)They want us to fight for our right to be in 0.0, thatĘs why we have dreads, carriers, titans, portable warp bubbles conquerable stationsą 2. As others have said its not the fear for gate camp itĘs the fear of losing implants. Gate camps are just one way you can loose them. Take a shuttle and the only thing you might loose a clone and a shuttle. IMHO we have more problem with the fact that even if you want to be 100% 0.0 based you cant how good industrial backbone you may ever have since some stuff you just can build down in 0.0 (no BPs in game) then we ever have with gate camps. (I might be in a big alliance now but have not always been that)
When in war you can not only target the enemyĘs warmongers you also need to strike against his industrial backbone as well as on a diplomatic level. Killing freighters, haulers and traders are the most important part of the war against his industry. If you make it impossible to target hostile (NBSI) around a gate you will remove the part where we are fighting for our rights down in 0.0. We have had devs pointing out more then one time that the chance for higher profit should come with a higher risk.
If we had a working travel counter a system that allowed us to warp in closer to a gate, station or any other object the more times we have been there would be a great thing. If we had a system like that we would be able to get rid of instas in a logical way. But we would still need BMs for ss and for tactical use. For those that says that you should be able to set any destination for the navigation computer all I can say is that even if we donĘt have any collision dmg in EVE its very logical that you donĘt try to jump right on top of a start gate unless you have your navigation computer extremely well calibrated something that gets better every time you time you are using a specific star gate.

Kassidus you must be new....BM's came about not as a gate camp avoidence...BUT a way to shorten the travel route. Before the 'Nerfed' superhighway system we have now, one would spend hours in travel time going from one region to the other.
Now BM's have another use...
Miners use them to return to that juicy roid they been mining on.
Mission runners use them to reclaim the loot after the mission.
0.0 people use them to return home to their POS/stations.
Haulers use them to shorten the travel time in empire.
Solo players use them to make supply points.
And yes they are used to avoid a gate camp.
So you want to upset all these people because... A: You have no friends willing to copy BM's for you... B: Your too lazy to go make some yourself... C: Your too dumb to make some... D: Your too dumb to set up a proper gate camp... C: All of the above?

errr /cough BS. Right now 0.0 for alliances is ultra carebear land, they camp a gate or 2 and they can go about thier buisness with more safety than you can in empire. 0.0 is supposed to be risky.... FOR EVERYONE that includes people in alliances that are not in systems they have soverignty in.
it's not the campers that make 0.0 an "ultra carebear land" - it's the lack of people who rather prefer to whine on the forum then to bust the camp. ___________________

@OP - the trouble is, people like their instas, as sub-light to a gate is just plain SLOW in a hauler, and to give the rats something to shoot at, they think they need to camp gates, which to be fair, is a valid point, they kinda do (though there are other options available, they just don't work as well).
you cannot simply remove these facets fo te game, as most of the in-game environment is driven by players. "stop gatecamps" generates about one thread every other day, but you know, you can't stop gate camps, because those are individual players, if they want to sit on their arses all day in the hopes a decent ship will come through, then so be it. ========================================== Iy |

You have obviously not read/watched a lot of sci-fi cause most battles take place around entry/departure areas of space whether it's some kind of gate or warp point. Removing the ability to attack ppl at gates is taking away an Alliance's capabilty to defend its territory. Removing BMs takes away the ability for a pilot to hide from pirates or anyone that is the enemy. Instas are a side effect of BMs that CCP didn't forsee but left alone as they understand why many of us use them.
Before you make judgement about something you should first learn about it. You're still using training wheels, either you can keep using them IE staying in Empire or you can take them off and join the big boys. Learning about 0.0 ways isn't hard all you have to do is stay alert to your surroundings.
