hello
i've been trying to get my head around why my apoc is not doing enough damage to kill a bs in 0.0
i have 6 mega pulse I's (multifreq) and 2 siege launchers (fitted for rat damage)
all my gunnery skills are on level 4 (except large turret specialization)
mostly been facing ravens in 0.0 and i can't break their shields alone.
is there something i am missing?
i have 13mil+ SP
any help would be appreciated
P.S. I have fitted a Tachyon setup and that works very well, but i'd like to know why the pulse doesn't.

That doesn't make much sense, Tachyons do less damage than Pulses at short range.
If you're warping in at long range to use Tachyons, then are you sure tracking isn't dominating your problems with MP?

when using the pulse i warp in a closer obviously. and the tracking is fine with the MP, i hit all the time, just don't do enough damage, basically 30-40 per laser where my tachs do 80-120 per laser at their optimum range.

In todays PvP: ECM > GANK > TANK scheme;
Apoc is designed to tank and can neither use ECM to much efficiency or gank much, so is pretty much the gimp atm!

I actually find t1 guns to be crap... even the t2 guns. Even so, you should still be able to bring down the rats.. Sounds kinda stupid to ask but it's all that makes sense... You are getting within optimal range and using a webber right? The webber is huge part in close range itself.
One thing that will help you out if you have minimal missile skills.... Use 2 heavy nosf instead of the siege launchers... Nosfing an NPC will cause it to repair slower. That is actually better than doing damage in some cases.
As far as why your tachs work and pulses don't... Lack of a webber is the only thing i can think of. If your optimal range is 15 km... then your still better off hanging at 9.5 km and having the ship webbed. -------------------------------------- ---"What's in your wallet?"--- "There are two kinds of respect, fear and admiration.... Sure, but they fire a lot less frequently. The damage/RoF of MP is greater than that of Tachyons, overall they should be hitting harder.
If they aren't, you're at both weapon's optimal and tracking isn't significant then I've no idea why MP isn't hitting harder.

The problem with guristas is their strong resistances against em...
but i still have no problem killing them in my absolution...
also what setup r u using ? how many hs ?

i haven't been webbing for the fact that it's a bs i'm fighting and all in all i'm faster than it is so i can close to optimum.
btw one thing i failed to mention is that i'm also using HS II's with the setup and still no damage. basically getting the same damage as my AF but with more guns.
no clue as to why this is happening...
re: missile skills - i do around 300 damage per cruise missile. don't know if that should be higher.

You are hunting a specific type of NPC with wrong ship. Get a raven or megaT or go hunt Blood Raiders or Sanshas. ---------------------- BiH 4tw |

cap bonous is totallu useless
perhaps change it to a 10% optimal of lasers bonous!
that way, the gedden is the DPS king at close range the apoc is the better choice for sniping long range, yet the gedden is better at sniping cose range [higher dps]

I used to hunt in an Armageddon and later on with an apoc when i was new to 0.0
I had Amarr Bs lvl 3 and Large energy turret lvl 3(that changed fast however), surgical on 4, and i did not have any problems with serpentis megathron and they tank lasers almost as good as the guristas. I did not use any heatsinks either(i know stupid).
You should not have any problems with pulses, remeber to use short range max damage ammo(MF, or Gamma pending on your cap situation), i did ****ty dps with med-longrange ammo.
Oh and please share your Tachyon setup with me i have always wanted to try one out. |

Use this setup 8 megapulses t2 with conf 100 afterburner t2, 3 euetic cap chargers 1 accomodation large rep, 2 kinetic and 1 thermal n-type hardener and 3 HS
i get 796 dps
even with guristas tanking, it will not take long to kill those bs...

I noticed a similar thing over the last 2 days, i simply couldn't hit a webbed frigate with my mega pulses. Before you say "but large turrets cant hit frigates", i was using a T2 tracking comp, frigate at 7,5km with 45m/s radial. With those values i should have 25% hit chance according to the Tracking guide, 10% with skills alone.
I captured the log, and out of 468 shots i hit 8 times! That's 1,7% hit rate, quite far from the calculated 25%.
Now, using the tracking guide with the turrets base tracking and no skill or modules i get 2% hit chance ... It would seem turrets, or possibly only mega pulses (but i think it's a general formula with the problem), dont use the modified tracking values!
It would also explain why your beams were doing good, you're firing well within it's tracking due to long range thus making this bug less apparant.
It fits well will the values and behaviors and i've bug reported it, but i cant be sure.

Kindly leave the bloody cap bonus alone. Mission running (lvl 4)needs dual repper tank, and trying to run that without the cap bonus would be basically impossible. If you want to pvp with it take a geddon. =P Tier 1 dps pvp, Tier 2 tanker pve, Tier 3 drone boat pwn mobile (I wish ) Do agree that the dmg sucks all around on the apoc atm. Piece n parcel of the overall Amarr problems, which the devs have yet to acknowledge despite a massive thread discussing the matter.
Not sure if the tracking is bugged atm, try pasting the logs of the miss rates to the devs with a listing of your skills and mods used. Aimez- "oh ****, this is empire......."
