Getting it tomorrow when my skills for it finish training. Think i'm going to get a taranis as i've had a look at it seems to be the best one of the two for my skill base.
Now the question of how to fit it for PVP
I have 2 ideas in mind.
1) Railguns and stick at around 11k ( could be good for ratting also )
2) Blasters and 1 small NOS.
I'm guessing the Ares may be better suited to the 1st idea as it can attack with missiles as well. Now as i only have 30k skill points in missiles i'll be giving this ship a miss.
Any ideas on setups? I can probably fit most necessary small tech 2 items apart from missiles, EANM's and other hardeners. --------------------------------------

If you're playing in gangs you might as well go full damage:
High: 3xLight Ion II Med: 1xMWD 1xWebby 1x20km scram Low: 2xMagnetic Field Stab 1xTracking Enhancer II
or for solo combat maybe this would be better:
High: 3xLight Ion II 1xSmall Nos Med: MWD/Web/Scram Low: 1xSAR II 1xDamage Control 1xMAPC
Have fun with it, it's a nice ship :D

Been having a play with that 2nd setup you posted on my tristan as it's a similar setup. Reckon i can only just squeeze 3 guns and a NOS on if i use electrons and an RCU.
How bad would electrons be on the taranis? --------------------------------------

?
Or MAPC instead of Tracking enhancer and Neutrons?

imho RCU is the worst possible module you can fit on a frig.
either a PDS is better (for overall performance) or a mapc for some *really* nice powergrid boost ___________________

Edited by: Diehard Si on 15/10/2006 10:44:42 God this ship is fun. Only got 2 ions on it at the moment though until i finish the skills for that MAPC thingy. Had a can thief in a destroyer warp in on me flashing red, he was dead in about 15 seconds and didn't hit me once.
I had a full rack of electrons, but even with Null ammo I couldn't orbit close enough with MWD on to be able to hit properly.
How do people manage the MWD in battle? Leave it on and risk running down cap, or turn it off and get better shots in?
Any other flying tips i need to be aware of? --------------------------------------

Only use the mwd to approach.
When you are at your target, just orbit without it and blast away.

oh right cool. I do that with my MWD thorax, but i though the idea of an inteceptor was to go so fast that nothing has a chance of hitting you.
Would an afterburner II be better? --------------------------------------

an ab would be good.. aslong as you are sure, that you can get in range, and hold the enemy there. And be sure that your tracking speed is high enough to actually hit him.
The problem with mwd, is both that you get away from your optimal distance, and that your transversal gets too high.

I run 2x electron II, 1x ion II, mwd, scram, web, 200 plate, mag stab II and a damage control. 2x t2 light drones too.
No rep because I'm hardcore.
The dc+plate combo allows you to soak up the initial volleys or keep you alive long enough to take out the drones while making sure cap isn't an issue if you start to get nossed. If you have enough cap to run your guns you're peachy. The plate doesn't affect agility as much as you'd think, and with double your base armour because of the plate and effectively double the structure hp because of the damage control resist bonus it makes an effective tackle setup. ----------- Join channel 'Turby' or die! Intys get a sig radius bonus.
It's this that makes them hard to hit rather than just speed.
