Since CCP and SSI are going to make a greater effort to advertise EVE, I would think it would be a good idea to release a 7-10 day demo of EVE. Does anyone know if CCP plans to do this?

darzerb i highly doubt it as ccp would then have to constantly clean up accounts that go dead after a week it would only add to an already THINLY stretched workforce
dont even bother turning your mods on-it wont help. |

Hmmm....I don't know of any MMORPGs that don't offer demos. Did Champion say why Tank?

Demos in online games like this get abused by griefers who sign up for 7 day accounts and run around killing newbies.
No demo is a good idea.

Well personally, I like to try out a game before I buy it, especially an MMORPG(that wasn't the case with EVE). But then again, maybe it wouldn't be a very good idea for this game anyways since the newb life in EVE is soooooo dull and boring.

the first 7-30 days are the most mind numbingly boring and repetitive days of eve. If i had to base my willingness to buy the game after 7 days, i wouldnt have bought it. |

It would be a good idea, as alot of ppl are facinated by what i tell them of eve but just cant justify paying a monthy fee for it.
A 7 day trial would help them decide weather it is worth the money

They could have people shine a flashlight at a rock for 6 hours straight, then they would have a clue on how this game starts
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

Give them a pass to Chaos for 7-10 days. They'd get all the best parts of EVE. They'd get PvP, cool ships and mods (fightclub access automatic) and an introduction to unpredicatable, buggy, patch-whacked gameplay.

People, what is the MATTER with you? Why are you playing the game if you think it is so boring?
Your experiences are not at all what I hear people talking about. I recruit a lot of people in Eve and one of the first thing I ask them is how do you like it? And almost everyone says "I LOVE it." I have never heard any negative comments like yours, people usualy thinks the game is hard but I never hear they say it's boring. Sure there are obviously people who don't like it, but I have met few of them in the actual game.
And no, you don't have to mine the first weeks if you don't want to. I was exploring Eve the first weeks and made several millions out of this.
So, please, if you like games that are similar to Elite (old space simulator with focus on money etc) then I recommend giving it a chance. The game can be bought for 13$ I have heard and then you got to try it out for a month.
Sure, there are things that could be better, and hopefully they will but the first months in the game I really liked.
