Vanguard Frontiers lost over 600 billion ISK in assets not including around 20,000 BPC's and a handful of BPO's to a ex-director!

lol love these lines
It seems the only way to keep the wealth accumulated through the hard work of generations of dedicated members secure is in a personal hangar which defeats the point of having a corporation.
Eve has no consequences, and while some people like this about Eve, some people do not.
lol at the AWOX whiners when CCP puts the friendly fire option in, but still cannot fix any damn reason to form a corp when guys steal what basically amounts to some else's effort (aka grind), why join a corp when there is no incentive to join/be in one since its just a piggy bank waiting to be broken open. Yeah, off topic slightly....CCP may of made EVE a sandbox, but forgot to put in a reason to be in a corp since its just ripe to be ripped off . |

The theft is the very reason why corp hangers shouldn't be free-for-all. The temptation to walk off with hundreds of billions with virtually no risk or consequence would be too great for most people unless you feel personally connected to the people who own said assets (friends OOG, etc).

Unless you are doing wormhole escalations or incursions, you are better off making isk solo. Corps are mainly good for pvp.
Doing industry in a big corp in particular is dumb. You can do it all yourself without too much trouble. Hire one or two guys to haul if you are lazy. |

truly pathetic that more than a decade into eve this can so easily happen and the thief get away scott-free with 600 billion.
throw him to the CSM to decide what should happen to him. Should he be banned? Should a % be recovered to vangaurd? Should he be banned from using that isk to buy new characters?
What is fair and acceptable consequences? Article stated the value at $13,000 USD, which is grand theft.
Personally, I think recovering and unfucking the alliance he ripped off is a good start and banning him from buying new toons a must.

Some serious changes, maybe layers of security before x% of alliance wallet isk can be moved and never by a single person -if there's gonna be theft, it'll have to require more than 1 dickhead. Many more levels of hangars and storage with some requiring 2-3 people to unlock and move them -again, requires multiple dickheads, but not impossible as GHSC proved.
On a real note, CCP, when you get embezzled will you just be like "Well oh **** happens... $13,000 or $130,000 or 1.3 million stolen, LOLZ." or do what you deny your players and seek restitution/asset recovery? I don't see why the perpetrator should be punished in any way shape or form to be honest. This is legitimate gameplay. Shifty, underhanded, and mean, but legitimate.
Beyond that, it does serve as a dual lesson both to be stingy on trust and to keep a tight lid on your corp's shiny things. vOv

It's part of the actual game but maybe CCP should fix it. The CEO can set a level of access to assets and the wallet. When someone with roles wants to take ISK or stuff above this level you simply need the CEO's permission. This would prevent to empty the wallet and corp hangar. This is how usually RL companies work with partners. I am pretty sure that CCP's bank account is protected like this. :-) |

With all things eve there should be a penalty, as with suspect flagging why not flag a person corp thief, like having a -10 that account is then flagged, it wont stop him opening a new account but at least flag that account ? maybe, just throwing it out there.
I do say coo-does to him in a way. he does highlight a fact that no one in eve can be trusted, kind of a shame, but a true fact. |

People need to stop making correlations of how much RL money ISK is. This confusing idiots into thinking ISK has a real value.
Anyway, the dude has basically got himself for a long time EVE. Not the most ISK stolen but certainly in the top.

ISK is not real.
The "1300 USD" Is a simply a conversion from the Selling rate of plex price from USD to what it can be sold in-game.
Troll post obviously, but I felt giving that clarification would be helpful to any newbros out there

These stories are awesome but I admit the one thing that bothers me is that the default plan is that now he'll just start using a new character and never again use the current one except for self-promotion on the forums.
The one thing I would enjoy more than a story about a corp theft that took months of planning is a story about a revenge plot that took years of scoping and stalking. It's too bad there are no revenge stories in EVE.
Can we brainstorm some approach to ensuring that the actions stick to the player, and discouraging more than a few identity changes? Without making the game obnoxious, of course. |

In the real world embezzlement has a consequence. It seems unrealistic that CONCORD would only deal with pew pew situations.

People who think that scamming or stealing in this game has any form or real life morality fail to see the wider picture.
If scamming or stealing is wrong then so is blowing things up given this game fundamnetally encourages violence.
Anybody who fails to see to see that connection is as the last poster suggested, unable to comprehend that this is a game and not real life.
I'm guessing that any first world player who loses something in this game eula abiding, wouldn't trade places with a starving child in Africa.
Given this any suggestion of having being wrong done they present should be condidered in the wider context that things could be worse....

One way to make actions stick would be to eliminate the character bazaar. That way if someone was going to burn a high SP character they would have to put a lot more work into it. |
