I think I wanna upgrade now, the worst thing is my AMD processor isn't even the good one. Its the smelly Duron. Cheapest, nastiest AMD of them all. And it runs at 1ghz but makes me think its running at 1.2. My comp chokes and wheezes a locks up whilst warping into Belts.
I got 684mb Sdram but it's mixed and unbranded which is probably why my machine crashes so much. And yes I am a student. :)
Anyone from the USA know if the 64 bit processors have come down in price yet? I heard they run at only 2.2 ghz but completely 0wn a P4 at 3.2 Ghz on some applications?

Im an Intel guy myself but I hear very good things about 1.8 and up for the AMD side.

inspired, as many others have been, i decided to make myself a masterpiece of fraps-eve video last night - in my head it would be full of sweeping close ups and careful camera placement capturing the ebb and flow of a battle in remarkable and intense detail.
the ideal opportunity had arisen when our corp went out to spank pirate botty - the ideal time to try out this fraps malarky
it was an awsome scene when i replayed the video
picture it: -
the coloured plasma-fuelled nebula in the background. the nearby richly-detailed planetary body rotating slowly in juxtaposition to the hectic ballet of local warfare.
our corp fleet had amassed... [] warped closely to [] and [] appeared to to the right of my [] while other []'s took up flanking positions behind the enemies []
[] flashed up red and i quickly locked the target []. 2 little blue lines \\'s shimmered at a smaller [].
the tension was palpable.
some []'s moved closer to other []'s and several more lil' blue \\'s (possibly white - was hard to tell in the heat of the moment and certainly harder to tell on playback oO ) shimmered on screen in a devastating manner.
after what felt like eternity but was in reality mere micro seconds - a teeny 8 appeared next to a smaller ◊
another quick lock, 2 more shimmering little \'s and there was a coloured * flash briefly on screen.
"fear the cleansing light of amarrian justice!!" i might have cried if i had thought of it before hand.
space was quiet. bar the corp-chat cheering, natch
VICTORY for the []'s!!!
death to the []!!!
[] went to ◊ and the spoils shared amongst other []'s. [] and [] warped out and [] docked locally.
a stunning victory it had to be said (ok... 4 BS's v a BB isnt exactly heroic).
a stunning victory that was recorded for posterity in quite possible the worst video ever to grace a home PC. zoom in dammit!
hats off to those that can record cinematic triumphs while still being able to conduct themselves appropriately on the battlefield
an E minus grade methinx. must do better.
/aside - much respect to El Paco who took his podding in relatively good cheer. when he amasses another several million in bounties on his head he promised to let me know :D

i was wondering, what was the 0.4 experiment about? ganking people at a jumpgate? you guys are pretty low. you don't even deserve to be called pirates. pirates ask for ransome or cargo. you just killed those pilots in cold blood. and don't give me the 'we might have been at war with them' crap. i saw no red markers on any of those ships.

You don't even see the convos going on in that video (which I didn't make). How can you even begin to judge what was happening?
The guy shooting that video is not our negotiator (who was doing great work that night btw). The video was initially shot to prove that toll gates could still be enforced if a group was set up to assist the initial aggressive action taker.

gee, even if you were taking tolls, i'm surprised that so many people refused; especisally after seeing the forces arrayed at the gate. mabe people are dumber than i give them credit for... wouldn't mind seeing your version of the chat loggs too. a sample mabe? should make for a good read.

Well, it did work out, the version you are seeing is not the version I had recorded. The video I shot was deleted after I reformatted.

We were taking tolls and several did decide to pay, but as you've seen it's not the majority. As for chatlogs, yes we've got a few...but we set those up on our "Stories and Chatlogs" section of our forums.

So thats why sentry guns got improved....
Nice tanking in the second vid, shame CCP had to go over the top. Maybe sheild hardners needed a nerf (assuming that vid was recorded before), but why make the sentry guns so powerful? It takes good teamwork and communications to pull off something like that, which is what EVE is all about?
While i disagree with jumpin lag camping, i feel blockades as shown in that vid should be part of the game. Tanking sentry guns and concord should be possible, maybe very hard to pull off but still possible. Also i find it pretty stupid that concord ships dont drop loot, would be a nice alternative way of introducing new items into to game rather than tedious agent missions which any noob can do.

Aye, they had two Battleships outside the station and we weren't able to do anything directly to them due to retaliation from the sentry guns. We had two Blackbirds line up and take control of the guns prior to moving a small force in. I'm assuming that if they would have failed it would have been nasty for us, lol. When the two announced control we warped a fleet in and took out Sheolyn and Raith. I went ahead and saved the log to show you how quickly the battle took place.
