Hi everyone
I finally got round to training into a BS and gained access to lvl 4 SOE agents. Im planning on using a maelstrom to run the missions.
I just have a few questions which would be awesome if I could get some answers for.
Firstly which types of rats do the lvl4 SoE missions typically contain?
Secondly, I hear about people getting ganked whilst running soe missions, im assuming these are the people in very blingy ships, but i was just wondering at which point do people consider actually ganking someone. Would I be safe using a faction shield booster for example? What kind of ISK value would my ship need to be for people to consider it a target worth going after?
Thanks for any replys |

Check the zkillboard in solar system and 2 systems around it where you want to run missions. I had semi faction fits and saw a ganker only once which i pretty easy escaped from. As far as rats go it probably depends in space you'll be doing missions. Caldari (Osmon) has alot of Guristas/Serpentis and Amarr missions from what i saw. |

Its good LP but the place is full of Russian Gankers on throwaway alts.
Only use a tech 1 battleship with t2 mods
Mostly bloods and angels. |

Rats depend on the faction space you run in.
Apanake = Blood Raiders and EoM mostly. Osmon = Guristas and Serps Langinsi = Angels and mix of Serps and Guristas |

The SOE agent in Lanngisi hates me and Amarr as well. 1 out 4 missions are against Amarr:( |

In my experience Langinsi was mostly missions against Angels with the occasional mission against Serpentis. And of course the usual occasional smattering of Rouge Drones/EoM/Mercenaries thrown in the mix. I never once saw any Guristas outside of Dread Pirate Scarlet. The only outlier was Cargo Delivery against Blood Raiders, which I did in a speed fit interceptor.
Since the EWAR used by Angles is a total joke Langinsi is probably the easiest place to run SoE missions.
As long as you stick to T2/Meta4 mods on your ship and fit a DCUII you should be fine. That's what I did and I never had any problems with gankers in either Langinsi or Osmon. |

There is a level 4 Amarr agent 2 jumps from Lanngisi. Just decline and go mission for them for a few hours and come back later.
In terms of the OP question, the rats depend on which major factions space the agent is based in. Lanngisi has a lot of Angels for example.
Also remember the 0.5 based agents give more LP.

Lanngisi is a good spot, especially if you started out in/about Heimatar. Hek is a pretty good market hub. Some prices are outrageous, but Rens is 6 jumps away and Jita is about the same (through low sec, so fit a cov-ops or something).
I bling my Vargur, but I fit a DC2 and use undocks in Lanngisi and Hek. I've never been targeted, ninja'd or otherwise screwed with. Except the time I tried to take on a sleeper battleship in a Loki. He ate my lunch. |

when running SoE missions I always fit a damage control. no one ever messed with me, but I don't really have too large of a sample size. Also I tend to blitz so I'm usually not in one spot for more than a few minutes at a time. Last I looked at killboards most kills were at least shiny enough they made their money back, and there were only a few kills each day, but sounds like they have increased their activities lately.
In a maelstrom I would just insure it and mostly t2 fit. a faction/deadspace shield booster is pretty cheap and I would probably throw it on there. if you don't lose it in 3 months the insurance cost should easily be made up by the isk you make from missions. if you do lose it, well haha, it was insured.
Lanngisi is where I'd go with a Mael, Fighting Angels plays to the advantages of ACs a bit more. Mission pools are determined by faction and region of space. In Apanake that means a bunch of blood raider missions. Both locations should have the same anti-faction missions. either run them and make a ton of isk on the tags, or decline and move on.

And with not having a market alt available to check things out, Eystur next door to Hek are connected to the Rens market. |

Just personal experience here.
The area around all of the SoE agents tends to be a mission gankers paradise since so many people are forced to go there to run missions. My suggestions are fly the cheapest ship / fit you can and still run the missions. Unless you need the standings don't run SoE missions at all.
On the other side my son prefers an ultra shiny, grossly over tanked ship to combat gankers. His theory is that it would cost them so much in ships to take you down that it changes the benefits / risks equation in your favor. Not sure if it is this theory or just plain old dumb luck but in almost 7 years in the game running level 4 missions no one has ever tried to gank him. |

IME Osmon is mostly Angels and Guristas. So much so that I had to go get my Raven 14 jumps away because Angels are super annoying to deal with on my Apoc. |

Most gankers won't mess with a tech 2 fit ship, even a marauder or faction BS there's just no profit without faction/deadspace mods. Taking the time to make instant docks/undocks on the mission and local trade hubs and watching dscan for combat probes on 1-5 AU whilst in missions pretty much negates the threat unless they are waiting for you on a gate. |

Beware of people ninja salvaging your mission objective (if something needs to be collected from a wreck) I had my objective stolen a few times and then they attempted to ransom it back.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.
