So for the last few days us residents of Molden Heath have had the worst gaming experience since I started playing eve over 2 years ago. It takes 10 minutes to open your items list, and thatĘs only with maybe 10 items in it, every gate has a jump queue, it takes 20 seconds to activate modules on ships. IĘve lost a few ships because of it, and some pirates have lost a few pods because of it .
This is the lowest point of performance in over 2 years, and really should be looked at. From what I have heard, and seen, the rest of the universe seems fine, as I was flying around hemitar (rens area) without issue. At this point, the game is almost unplayable for a lot of usą Please fix it.

Yeah, atm im out in the fringes of 0.0 space and I can't even load the belts, turn on reps, warp away, etc. because the lag is so bad. Only 2 people in local as well, and there's noone else in the systems around.

It took me like 20 minutes to login due to "jump queues" in Istodard... There was 13 people in local, and I was #2 in queue. =( __________________________________________ -= We Fly for our people =- -= I fly for Blood =- |

It's becoming unplayable. I have played for over 3 1/2 years now and given more time than i care to even think about to EvE.
I love this game but its a dying on its feet in terms of performance over the last few weeks. Lag on travel and market and on module activation is appalling and possibly the worst I've ever seen it.
I begin to wonder if CCP need to invest massively in hardware again, maybe double capacity or something because right now we seem to be well past the mark where the servers can handle the load appropriately and we really should be at a point where even at 25000 concurrent users there is spare and easy capacity on the nodes.
I can understand that travelling through Jita is risky due to having 900 docked escrow scammers filling the system but for the love of god why the hell is the lag so bad in constellations that essentially have maybe a few hundred people in them jumping between gates that have maybe 5 in one system and 3 in the next.
I am somewhat glad that I'm not going to the Fanfest this year even though i'd have loved too as i'm sure i'd have spent the entire time talking about lag :/ TPFM - The original Minmatar Terrorists. Podding Amarrians For Years! |

Seems like this lag coincides with the lag in nakah & 9uy. I presume resources have been re-allocated to deal with the large battles going on in the south atm.
10 mins to log into Nakah today with only 5 in system.

I'm in Gelfiven/Atlar and the lag is awful. Slow module activation. Queues to jump into a system with 7 people in. Not even bothering to open my hanger items.

Yeah, the lag is terrible everywhere in fits & starts.
but if you read the stickies you'll see that the devs are well aware of it and are in the process of onlining lots of shiny new hardware to try and sort it out.
I know that doesn't help us now but what else do you expect? These things can't be fixed overnight. You can always put your accounts on hold for a month or two while they try and fix it. Leave a long skill training, go play something else until Christmas, come back and see if Kali and new hardware improve things?

Just because they are fixing it, the 2500+ residents of MH should not play for 3 months? That just doesnt make any sense to me ;( __________________________________________ -= We Fly for our people =- -= I fly for Blood =- |

what kind of answer is that really? Its a specific problem, everyone knows about jump queues, horrible lag everywhere. This thread isnt about that and doesnt need a reply that begs of a parent telling a child off.
I live in MH and have travelled between domain and MH just today to pick up a ship. Everything is generally fine until you enter MH where your instantly jump queued and hit with 30 second lag for a region not even highly populated and are jump queued for every jump. During my travel to domain and back I dont encounter any lag at all until barely until i get back to MH. Its been like that for weeks now and this thread is doing the right thing, asking for devs to look at the MH resources as the other neighbouring regions arnt as bad.
We are all capable of reading the news and blogs from CCP but this problem is specific to a region that is suffering more than anywhere else.

It's the carebearing in Molden Heath. If you carebear 24/7 in 2 systems of the entire region it will be lagged.
Go to Hegfunden, no lag at all there but make sure your clone is up to date.

to comment. First to me atleast the lag has been fairly constant and ive lost a ship and almost lost a second trying to play in it..but once I fly out into other areas the lag goes away..so it seems MH is expessially bad..which might suggest its something that ccp can fix. I donnu.
And if it gets worse or takes multiple months to fix what can i expect? CCP to reimburse me for the time I couldnt play the game in an area of there space...or CCP to expect that after a while they will lose a custumer.
Its not our responsiblity as clients to wait months for a service (this game) to become fairly playable in the region we inhabit...but CCPs responsibility to provide us with a entertainment service for the funds we spend.
And yes..I can relocate to other regions if it is a MH specific thing..but thats fairly unfair.
Its like when we had a wardec a few weeks back and 10 on 10 battles occured and node death approached.. yet I go to systems like Jita with hundreds of players and the lag is no where near as bad.
I pay my dues..I wanna playable system where most my stuff is located. Simple enough and yes I do expect and hope its fixed before It really annoys me.
Thanks for your time greenbolt.
(I dont mind losing ships to my own stupidity..I dont like losing them to lag in nearly empty systems)

If possible, If you are going to post in my thread, try and leave the flaming out of it.
I spend a bunch of my time down there, egbinger, aeditide, weld, and there is still a queue to jump into empty systems. __________________________________________ -= We Fly for our people =- -= I fly for Blood =- |

I had a bad episode of lag last evening @ 10:00 cst us. Sat orbiting a rat in Pator mission for 5 minutes, rubberbanded back and forth a coupla times, and then resumed orbiting the same rat in a new location, 30km from my previous spot. Couldn't reload, shoot, warp, etc. Finally resolved itself, and let me finish the job. Very worrying at the time. After that, I called it a night. So Molden isn't the only Lag - Heimatar(sp) was acting up too...

Dragon intruduced "Better" node assignment. Seems like as the battle rages down south, more nodes get assigned to the systems down there (only 1 node per system of course) but as the battle spreads out to more and more systems to escape the lag, more nodes get assigned down there. TCAG, TPAR, GQ2, and AZN I wouldnt be surprised if they all had their own node at this point.
the back effect of this is that regions with less activity get more and more systems on a single node. And even lagged as they are, the southern battle systems still have more load, and the nods are not reassigned.
It was stated in a dev blog that additional node servers are on their way:
http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=387
with 60 additional nodes being added.
It still amazed me how people expect an immediate fix to lag tho. The hardware is on its way. it needs to be configured software wise, it needs to be tested, then integrated into the server AFTER ensuring the server code can manage the additional nodes. And this takes time. Yes it sucks right now, but dare I say it, They Are Working On It(tm)

Pops is right - there are often jump queues to enter systems with ZERO players in them, (like Gonheim). The Allamur constellation is the absolute wost but all MH is definitley bad.

Hi, yes, I read the blogs too, and I understand all about clustering, as I used to write cluster management applications. Granted, it was for web-servers and game-servers but still clusters none the less.
There is however a problem in your load balancing software when one cluster is always starved as resources, even when other clusters are running flawlessly. There can be 2500 players logged in, right after DT, and MH is just as laggy as it is on a weekend. So please stop with the rhetoric that hardware will fix it, because it wont, its not a hardware issue, Its a load balance issue, which is software.
Which is why this thread exists in the first place, to alert CCP that thier load balancing software seems to be messed up when it comes to the cluster that I spend some of my time in game.

I'm glad to see that some new hardware will be forthcoming in later months. But for now, wow... the jump que's are pretty bad and the lag occasionally causes problems with inventory mgmt and module use while flying.

I think all Dragon did was take the lag from the systems people were fighting in and spread it evenly across the whole of eve.

I came back to EVE after a yearlong hiatus. I don't remember anything like this happening before. I enjoy this game, but its unplayable for me right now. I won't hand over cash for a service I am unable to use. I'll see if it gets better after 2 November, and if not, so long space.
