Hello, I am about to start learning the skills for T2 Amarr guns and I was hopeing to get a recomendation or two from everyone.
What ones (T2 Beam or Pulse) do you like to fit for these acts (reguardless of ship size): 1. Fleet battles 2. Solo 0.0/low sec ratting. 3. Mission running (L2+)
I'm hopeing your responces will give me a better idea on what ones I should train to use first.
Thanks, -K -------------------------------------------------- Loyal servant of the Amarr empire. Why the hell an't my picture showing up....... |

1. Beams (Tachyons ideally, for alpha strike + range). 2. Pulses (you want the DPS). 3. Beams (you want the range). Some run missions with pulses, though

1: For larger fleet battles you need tachs as a very large Alpha strike is what you want. 1: For smaller sniper gangs you want beams as they are a bit better for longer fights. 2: Pulse all the way 3: Pulse all the way, with a AB and TII crystals (scorch optimal 40+km)
Posting and you!

well to be honest, once you have the energy weapon skills for the specialist(t2) skills its really easy to get both the pulse's and beams so i would simple adwise to get both and than try both and see what you like the best...
as i see it:
1)= Beams 2)= Pulses 3)= not sure atm i use beams for the range works okay, but pulses are a valid choice too )

Same as what everyone else is saying...
1: Beams 2: Pulse 3: Whatever suits your play style... pulse for me.

You can use pulse very successfully on a faster moving ship, once you get in anything bigger than a cruiser though, you want beams.

I would have thought T2 lasers are simply as with the regular ones - pulse for short range and beams for long range. So if you want range for fleets/sniping use beams, close combat use pulses. And yes, train both!
And btw, what's this "large alpha strike" people keep mentioning?

The alpha strike is the maximum damage output of your vessel at any one moment, generally achieved by simultaniously discharging every gun you got (preferably coordinating this alpha-strike with the alpha-strike of many other ships. The preferable coordination is such that an opposing ship goes from "not hurt"/"Barely scratched" to "popped" in one salvo. Mostly important in fleet battles and in cases where you can pop your opponent on one salvo or two.

You will want pulses for all ship classes (frig, cruiser, battleship) and beams for battleships. Unfortunately that means you have to train beams all the way through as well. But we can always hope for a fix that makes beams viable on frigs and cruisers, can't we?

beams for missions really, the ability to decimate everything that start 40km or further away from you is just to beautifull to avoid :D
depends on playstyle or taste though :) |
