It's a common enough subject in the forums, and an emotive message about one or two relatively minor aspects of the game usually follows.
Some folk are having all sorts of technical difficulties, and lag problems, and issues with the more recent patches, etc, and I'm sorry that you're having problems... but if you're able to play, it's a damn fine game, and you should try not to sweat the little things.
Honestly, the next time I see someone whining about missile ranges, I'm going to go hunting.
I've played them all.
Notably:
- I survived the GodMode and rubber-banding in Asheron's Call.
- I survived the total lack of content in Shadowbane.
- I survived the Lag Monster in Horizons.
- I survived the total botch-up that SWG evolved into.
- I survived the whiny cookie-cutter Pwnfest "Buy Sum Gold!!!!11" that is WoW.
Each time I have come back to Eve.
Why?
Because even though there are problems with it, it is, in my humble estimation, the best MMO out there. Note, I said "best", not "most popular", and I'm being completely subjective.
Sure, there are things that I'd like to see added.
Sure, there are problems that I'd like to see solved.
(Hell, I hate being in a queue as much as the next guy, and nobody likes lag.)
But ultimately, all the people whining away about how terrible the game has become should take a break and just pop in to train periodically, and try one of the other games on the market.
I can guarantee you that if Eve is meant For You, you'll come back... probably realising that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the asteroid.
Ultimately, it's just a game and stressing about it to the point where you're in a "Do 'This' Or I'll Quit" frame of mind is just self defeating.
The only people who legitimately have a gripe are those who simply cannot play.
Lag and bugs are a part of almost every MMO game, and you just have to learn to adapt to it. Don't fly what you can't afford to replace, and have a "Take it easy" contingency if you find yourself in strife in the game.
We've got it pretty good here, and I think that people are in danger of losing sight of the fact that this isn't a bad game at all, because of a few irritations that wouldn't get fixed any faster in any other MMO.

If you can't play, I hope it gets fixed soon. I know how frustrating legitimate technical difficulties can be. but if you can play, as the bulk of us can, whine less and play more!

What's this, a reasonable post? It can't be, its not possible ;) Great post, nice to see a non-whine post once in awhile. I admit i complain about the bugs too, but ultimately eve is one of the best games ive ever played, so i'll keep on playing. Better to play a great game with bugs that a crappy one with bugs eh? :)

I played EVE for a month when it first came out and then I quit and played a bunch of MMOs for 3 years. Now I'm back playing EVE again. EVE -is- the best MMOG out there, and like you said it's not without its problems, we just have to deal with them.

Each of the things you mentioned EvE has a lot of as well. Except maybe Godmode though some would disagree.
It lacks the content of WoW. Has the lag monster so bad the game crashes when you try to fleet fight.
Its had its fair share botch ups (POS are just 1 example) and if you dont think EvE is a whiney pwnfest you should play a lot longer.
Our petition queues are 3-4 weeks long.
As for the gold selling, well we have that in huge number PLUS we have developer sanctioned buying of ISK via GTC.
EvE is a good game, but it went from best because it rocked, to best because its really the only type in its genre at the moment, a year or so ago.

Yeah I have long sense learned my self if I have to make myself have fun doing something, I should stop doing it. I wasted alot of time in both WoW and CoH trying to make the game fun instead of quiting like I should have. So if you find your self in this situation do what the OP said and quit playing for a bit. If your like me when I did it you'll come back because you miss it. If you don't get that feeling then well you may have saved your self some serious frustration.

I am astounded, agog, and agast. Obviously you are living in some parallel universe where the OPs post is something ENTIRELY different than what the rest of us are reading. Either that or you mean to say that you agree with what he is saying and that your "emo" comment was intended to the people which the OP is talking about.
The OPs post is praising EVE, not "*****ing" about it as you so put in your second post. It is, however, a hell of a lot more constructive in it's manner of dealing with people complaining about the game than your useless, lack of punctuation, stereo-typing, general form spam response to people that may be frustrated at the current state of certain aspects of EVE.
If this is all a miunderstanding and your "can we all have your stuff" post was NOT a response directly to the OP who at no time said they hated they game, we leaving, and wanted to fling ***** at CCP then I digress. However, from first impression it seems as if you read the title of the tread and proceded to post without realising that the OP was more elloquently stating the same thing you were.
In general, I look at it this way. People who really just don't like the game will most likely leave without a sound. If someone is frustrated then it generally means the care somewhat. I, for one, would rather see someone complain, rant a bit, vent, and stick it out in the end. That way we don't keep losing experienced players. Ignoring people who just want to get something off their chest is a whole hell of a lot easier than finding and training new players from the ground up.

I love this game, it is a big part of my life. I have made some awesome friends here. I have tried other games (even WoW), and this is the only one I have found with a community. The others to me seem like a glorified single player game. I love that this is a PVP game, I play it as suck no matter what I am actually doing in game, it will always be in some way affecting and competing with others. It is also not for everyone, and that is meant to be taken in a serious way. I've offered to even pay for subscriptions to get some of my RL friends to play  with no luck! I have very little desire under normal circumstances to take vacations, getting my ass on a plane, spending thousands just to be somewhere else. But this game makes me want to do that every day, just so I can personally meet the ppl I play with.
If I could affect the general publics mindset about this game they play in any way it would be to, take the bugs, lag, and any other problems it has, and consider them as challenges. This game is a very challenging game to be successful in, and TBH we should all aspire to better ourselves as players, and getting angry with CCP on the forums about bugs is define tally not bettering your self, it is admitting that you as a person and a player cannot adapt.
EVE > All other MMOs TBH

I have played pretty much every MMO out, big and small. There is nothing out there that can even hold a candle to EVE.
EVE is the second least buggy game I've ever played. That's pretty damn good for an MMO. The least buggy game would be WoW of course.
EVE is so vast and expansive and CCP are a great company and I am very happy to fork over my money to them to play such a superb game. They seem like they are the only company who actually CARES about the game they are making rather than how much they can make off it.

I played Lineage 2, CoH/CoV, RFO, Rose Online, FFXI, EQ2 and DaoC.
None of those games could compare to EVE. Yes we have our problems but if u have played ANY mmo u would know that no game is w/o its problems. This game is immersive and offers things that no other game offers atm. Just give CCP the chance to correct the problems as they have already said they have ordered new hardware for the Kali patch, along with the fact that they are diligently trying to fix the current problems.

I agree, but I have to say that CoH/CoV comes close. It isnt as open ended as EVE, but it is fun to play for a non-PvP game. Lots of free upgrades and enhancements to the game periodically.
